I had met Aliana because our parents were friends and business partners. My rivalry with Jonathan Black had been going on so long I cannot remember a time in my life where he was not my enemy.
I have known him since I was 3 years old and we took an instant dislike to each other. The first time I met him was when I was 3 years old and he was five. I was on a playdate over at his house with his sister Aliana and he made it his mission to torment me that day. He kept pulling my pigtails whenever his sister wasn't looking and blowing spitballs at me. I finally got tired of him and sunk my teeth into his leg. I still remembered how he screamed when I had bitten him. He played innocent and got me put into timeout.
Since my application and acceptance into NYU was a little bit of a rushed process, student housing had been full. I was all for renting an apartment. I had an unlimited credit card courtesy of my absentee parents that was ready and willing to foot the bill.
Unfortunately my parents were skeptical about me living on my own in a city as big as NYC and weren't willing to allow me to. Like they didn't practically abandon me since I was 5. I knew they were just scared that I would do something to tarnish their reputation. Again.
Then Aliana's parents suggested that I move in with Jonathan in his two bedroom apartment.
I immediately refused that idea as I didn't want to be anywhere near him. He was a dick and the happiest days of my life was when he went off to NYU to study Engineering and Business. My parents gave me an ultimatum. I either live with Jonathan or I wasn't going to New York. I had to suck it up and push my pride aside. Or I would be stuck in Seattle, which was the last place I wanted to be. It brings us here now.
I glare at him and remained in my spot on the floor. I already felt stupid for falling in-front of him. He wasn't going to order me around.
He rolled his hazel eyes at me.
"There's your room." He pointed down the hall to the second door. "Stay away from me." He glares. "Don't touch my food or my tv." He grabs his jacket and heads to the door. "And don't even think about my room." He gives me one final glare before slamming the door.
Who the fuck did he think he was talking to like that?
I immediately jump up from the floor and race towards the door flinging it open.
"Hey asshole! I didn't want to be here either okay? So do not think you can talk to me like that!"I scream at his retreating back and slammed the door shut. I almost expect him to return an insult but he doesn't.
"I know the neighbors hate you already. Very good Cayetana, call attention to yourself." My inner voice says and I shut her up. I was in no mood for her snarky comments. I wasn't even in New York a day and already Jonathan had pissed me off.
I grabbed my suitcase from the doorway and walked down the hall to my room. It was medium sized and kind of plain. It had a queen sized bed with nice white sheets and a pretty blue comforter. At least the asshole had had enough decency to put some sheets on it. There was a nightstand beside the bed and a small vanity area.
The only other thing in the room was a walk-in closet and a plain white desk. There was another amazing view which was different from the one in the living room.
The glass window allowed me to see the pretty green trees in the park outside and I loved it. I was puzzled when I didn't see a bathroom adjoined to my room. I then I realized that I would probably have to share a bathroom with Jonathan. Just my luck.
I checked my phone to see 1 text from my parents and 6 missed calls from my best friend. I texted my parents and Aliana to inform them that I had arrived. I then threw myself down on the bed and drifted off to sleep.
