Charlotte POV
"I dare you to..." Dad trailed off, rubbing his chin thoughtfully as he stared at mom, "Take off your shirt."
I gagged at that as mom's face went strawberry red and took off her shirt, making my jaw slack.
She never would've done something if one of her kids told her a dare like that! But suddenly, dad comes in and says one sentence and she listens!
But when dads eyes darkened with lust and his arm visibly tightened around her waist as a growl rumbled through his chest, I could see why mom listened to him.
She stared at him, so much love and lust shining in her eyes, I had to doubt the love I held for my own mate.
Dad turned to me, smiling though glancing at mom every split second as if they were having a silent conversation.
Moms eyes widened for a brief second and her face lit up further in flames.
I had to giggle at that when she self consciously covered her chest.
"Your turn." Dad nodded to Hunter, who nodded and looked around the circle, but his eyes landed on me, like they always do.
"Truth or dare?" He asked me, a knowing look in his eyes.
"Truth." I said immediately, too much of a wimp without my with in control.
"Do you love me?" He asked.
As soon as the words left his mouth, I regretted my choice.
"Dare." I said.
"I dare you to answer the question." He said, leaning across the coffee table to try to intimidate me.
I leaned closer, not backing down.
"Pass." I said, smiling.
Dad groaned in annoyance, smacking his forehead, I did this every time Hunter picked me, and the punishments only got worse.
"Fine." Hunter said, smiling deviously. "You have to go skinny dipping... Off the pier, but clothes stay on." He warned the last part with a lustful glint in his eye.
I narrowed my eyes at him, but nonetheless, stood up and walked out the cabin, the winter air nipping at my exposed skin.
"Is she crazy?! It's snowing and she's seriously going to do it?!" I heard Aunt Pixie whisper to Uncle Adrian.
But I walked to the edge of the pier anyways, staring out at the moon's reflection on the ocean horizon before looking down below me at the bottomless darkness that rested at my feet.
My witch had taken over.
I slipped off my shoes, placing them behind me on the pier along with my jacket before looking over my shoulder at the others at the edge of the forest.
I dove into the water, head first, but hearing one thing leave Hunter's mouth before the water consumed me.
"Oh crap." He said, as if just realizing I would do it.
The freezing water consumed me like fire and gasoline mixed together, consuming me whole and covering every inch of me.
The water froze every part of me, making it seem as if I was in the forest in a blizzard, laying down naked as snow piled up on me.
The water got colder, to the point of which it felt my fingers and toes were about to fall off and the rest of my body were numb.
I swam to the surface, hands immediately going to pull me out of the freezing water and a blanket quickly covered me as mom wrapped my shivering body in her arms.
I heard yelling towards shore and turned my head to see dad beating the crap out of Hunter, who wasn't fighting back at all.
"No." I whispered weakly, going to stand up, but mom held me in place.
"Mom." I said, my voice getting hoarse as I saw Hunter fall to the ground, unconscious and dad climbed on top of him, throwing more punches, "He's killing him. Make him st-" My voice was cut short when it became to hard to speak.
Mom's head snapped towards dad and Hunter and she brought a hand to her mouth in horror, standing up and hurrying to pull dad away from him.
And slowly, ever so slowly, I felt my bond with my mate weaken.
I saw my father turn around rapidly, his fist in the air, and hit mom across the face before instantly realizing what he had done as she fell to the floor and he went to apologize.
I stood up, walking through the snow with bare feet, the blanket left behind me and leaving me in only my jeans and tank top, not caring how cold it was and I was probably going to be sick after all of this.
I dropped by my mates side, hearing his weak heart beat and hopping this wasn't the end.
But when his heart beat grew so low, I could barely hear it, my witch sunk to the back of my mind, knowing how much I was going to make her pay for throwing me into the ocean. And I fell over his body, crying and sobbing and wishing I had just answered his question so we wouldn't be in this mess.
