Monday, Eren hated school. He stood with his forehead leaning on his locker. Armin was shuffling his books around getting ready for the day. Eren's arms felt like lead weights hanging at his side. He was having trouble keeping ahold of the notebook he was hanging onto.
“Do I have to move from this spot?” he asked Armin as the notebook slipped from his numb fingers once more. Armin looked up at him sympathetically.
“Yes. Want me to get that for you?” he asked. Eren glared at the offending book of paper.
“No.” he sighed. “Your fingers aren’t much better.” He pushed with his head to lean away from the wall. He turned to pick up the notebook, only to find it no longer on the floor.
“Hey, where’d it go?” he asked looking to see if someone had kicked it down the hallway.
“Here, brat.” A deep voice said. Eren turned slowly. He looked at Levi holding the notebook out to him. He looked too shocked to move.
“Come on take it, I’m not going to hold it all day!” Levi grouched. Eren winced as he lifted his arm to take the book. He mumbled a thanks to him. Before glancing to see others in the hall watching them.
“Uh, you know we're in school, right?” he turned to Armin. “Pinch me, I think I fell asleep!” Levi glared sourly at him.
“I know where we are.” he growled. Armin tugged Eren's arm.
“Come on the bells going to ring.” Eren turned to follow the smaller boy. He glanced back to see Levi watching them.
“Am I dreaming or did Levi Ackerman just talk to those losers?” a girl asked. Eren looked at her.
“Same.” He said confused.
She made a tsk sound flounced her blonde hair over her shoulder and walked away. Eren found math class uninvigorating. He started out the window trying to even stay awake. Armin dragged him from class to class as Eren walked in a daze. His body hurt and he didn’t sleep well the night before.
Finally, it was time for lunch. Eren took the tray Armin handed him, and promptly dropped it. “Wake the fuck up, brat!” he heard the yell but still couldn’t believe the most popular kid in school was talking to him. Yeah, he had come and auditioned for their band, which blew his mind to say the least. Had even agreed to be in said band, but to actually talk to him in school.
Levi moved to his side. “Are you ok?” he asked. Eren looked at him dumbly.
“He didn’t sleep well because he hurts so much.” Armin said. “Plus, the nightmares always get him when he is over tired." Armin went to reach for Eren's arm again to drag him away from the shorter boy.
Levi stepped up using his body to push the hand away. “Come on, let’s get you some coffee.” He took the sleeve of Eren's shirt, picked up the tray, dumping it in the dirty dishes line and escorted the taller boy through the line. He made sure to get him food as well as the largest coffee he was able to talk the cafeteria lady out of. When he wanted to be, Levi could be charming.
He took Eren to a table filled with seniors. Armin didn’t know what to do, he followed aimlessly. “Make room.” Levi demanded. A girl with reddish blond hair moved over. A tall guy with bushy eyebrows shifted a few seats down. Levi pulled Eren down beside him.
“Oh, fresh blood. Levi who is this cutie!” a loud squeal came and something smashed into Eren's back. She pulled on his face. “Those eyes, oh my god, delightful.” She twisted his head around.
“Knock it off, shitty glasses, he isn’t one of your experiments.” Levi shoved her away.
“Grumpy runt!” she cried at him but moved to take a seat beside the other girl. Levi glared but turned back to Eren. He lifted the boy’s arm closest to him onto the table. With strong gentle fingers he massaged the muscles up and down the arm. Eren winced and groaned from both pain and pleasure as his sore muscles got worked over.
