Cyrus Santos and his wife Mia were the last to leave the field. After picking up the scattered soccer balls and flags that had been left on the field by their team, they made their way to their car where Kassandra and Nathan were standing, waiting for them. Nathan's brows were furrowed and face serious, as if he was really concentrating on something, while Kassandra had a small frown upon her face as she gazed off into the distance, seemingly lost in thought. Both were brought out of their trances by the beeping of the car beside them, signaling that it was unlocked. "Nathan, did your parents want us to bring you home or are you staying the night at our house tonight," Mia asked, breaking the heavy silence in the car. "Oh, they said that I could stay the night, as long as it was cool with you, Auntie Mia," he replied with a kind smile painted on his face. "Of course," she said, returning his smile. As soon as they left the parking lot, Kassandra put on her headphones and began blasting music so loud that everyone else in the car could hear it. Normally the music she listened to was more up-beat, but currently the songs were softer and more melancholy.
Once Mia was sure that her daughter couldn't hear her she asked her nephew something that had been bugging her for a little while. "Nathan?" she asked, hesitance clear in her voice. "Yeah?" "I've noticed that my daughter has seemed more...unhappy lately. Do you know if anything happened that may have caused this type of reaction?" Nathan didn't know what to say. Honestly, he noticed that something was up with her, but he didn't know what. "I have no clue. Maybe you should ask her yourself." "I've tried asking her before, but when I bring it up she just smiles and says that she's fine, then goes and locks herself back up in her room. I just want to make sure she's doing alright." she said, getting quieter as she spoke. Nathan could tell that she was worried about her, heck he was too. "I could ask her about it later and make sure she's okay," he suggested. "That would be great, Nate. Thanks," Cyrus said before turning up the radio to drown out the silence. 'I hope she's alright' Cyrus thought before directing his full attention back to the road.
