It was a while before anyone spoke again, but Delilah pulled away just enough to look Kassandra in the eyes and say, "Let's run away."

Kassandra didn't know how to respond. "Run away?! Is she crazy," Kassandra thought. They were only eighteen and fresh out of high school. They had practically no money, no car and no long-term career. There were so many flaws with Delilah's plan, so many places where it could all go wrong. Kassandra knew this. So then why was she so eager to agree? To run away and live with Delilah far away from their awful families and their petty feud.
"Where would we go," Kassandra asked, still holding Delilah close. Delilah laughed. "It's funny actually. I planned it all out, hoping that you would say yes. I have an aunt who lives in the city that I'm really close with. I've told her all about my parents and that perverted boy. I've told her about you, us, our situation. I've even mentioned running away to live with her before and she's totally fine with it. I asked her about half an hour ago. She said that she wouldn't say a word to our parents and we could just be 'roommates.' We could go to college and get jobs in the city. Then, when we were more financially stable, we would move out."
Kassandra stared at the girl in her arms, astonished that she had planned this all. She was just as astonished with herself at how excited the whole idea made her. "How would we get there," Kassandra asked. "My aunt said she would pick us up tonight if we wanted. It would take her about forty-five minutes to get here, but I don't think we're in any rush," Delilah said with a chuckle as she looked back up at the stars.
Kassandra gave Delilah a tight squeeze before kissing her cheek and giving her final answer. "Let's do it. Text your aunt to come here, then go home and pack up essentials and write your parents a 'farewell note' so they don't think we got kidnapped and we'll meet back up here in thirty minutes. Okay?" Delilah excitedly turned around and looked at Kass. "Really? You really want to?" "Absolutely," Kassandra replied before they came together for a soft, happy kiss.
Kassandra pulled away and helped Delilah up before they split up to their separate houses for the last time.
Both Delilah and Kassandra ran home and grabbed their soccer bags. They quietly walked around their houses and grabbed what they needed, clothes, toiletries, snacks, chargers, medicines and anything else that came to mind. Once they were finished with that, they each wrote a short letter to their families before sneaking back to the fields.
They both made it back to the fields and collapsed with laughter. They were both giddy from the adrenaline coursing through their body due to the situation. After they calmed down a bit, they sat down together near the parking lot and waited for Delilah's aunt to pick them up. As they waited they sat and watched the stars, dreaming about their future together.
Finally, Delilah's aunt arrived and the three escaped to the city together, excited to begin their new lives.
