*i wanted to clarify what was meant when i wrote kuroo to call bokuto a "gym rat". it's not aimed towards atsumu, as kuroo didn't even know bokuto was alluding to atsumu specifically (hence following up with making known "it's tsumtsum"). "gym rat" is slang for someome who spends a lot of their time in the gymㅡas a kinesiology major, bokuto and his friends (known to kuroo as other kines majors) inevitably spend their time at the gym often. however, i do understand how this may make others feel and i will change my choice of words to ensure that everyone will be much more comfortable. i just wanted to clear out any misunderstandings on my part.

as for the other "rat"sumu commentsㅡthough most of you may not know about its racist potential nor intend to be racistㅡcalling atsumu a rat is actually quite offensive and racist as it links back to the ww2 rat propaganda against the japanese. propaganda posters depicting the japanese as "fanged, slit-eyed, devious creatures" (not even as humans) were mass-produced to degrade, alienate and deem them unworthy as a race. they were called rats to be pictured as an ugly and frightening race.

so! let's all refrain from making these "rat" comments towards atsumu. you may argue that he's fictional and you can't actually hurt his feelings, but your words are realㅡthe japanese hq fandom has made it known that they do find the rat related remarks racist and offensive. you may not be hurting atsumu but others in the fandom may be hurt.
