Chapter 3

Pyra Salazar

"Pyra, iha. Lapit ka kay lolo. May bago kang playmate oh, his name is Matthew" I looked at the boy standing beside my grandfather. He smiled but I gave him a frown.

"Lolo, I'm already 12 years old. I don't need a playmate" I answered. I looked at our guest area and saw two people in there. Might be his grandparents. I walked towards them and respectfully greeted them. We were taught to be always respectful towards the elderly.

"Napaka bait naman na bata. Ang ganda ganda pa" the woman stated. Lolo smiled while looking at me. I think he really sees mom through me. He and Lola always tells me that I look like a carbon copy of my mom.

I sat there while they were talking about business and other stuff. I really can't understand and I just wanted to go outside and play by myself. Alone.

"Lolo, can I play outside?" since I was getting pretty bored. That boy keeps smiling at me. I don't like him. I don't like playing with anyone besides lolo, lola and Liam.

Our maid cooked cookies for me and I was happily eating it while playing outside. I took my jumping rope and started jumping as I counted.

"18..19"

I was about to reach 20 jumps when I saw the boy eating my cookies on the table. I immediately stopped and punched him in the face. Instead of crying, the boy chuckled which made me angrier, I took my jumping rope and tied his arms with it. I took the cookies and started eating it in front of him.

Lolo got outside and saw what I did. He obviously told me to say sorry to Matthew. Which I did, lolo can get really scary sometimes.

I thought that was the last time that I'll see him but it seems like our grandparents had something different planned for us.

We were enrolled in the same school and I don't know if they pulled some strings but we also became classmates.

They badly wanted us to be friends...

But we never did.

Matthew Silvera. This guy really knows no boundaries. Damn it. I was cursing inside my mind when I heard him speak.

"Hey Pyra!" He greeted me but I just stared right at him. Pano ba nito nalaman na dito ko nag transfer? He was one of the reasons why I transferred tapos dito na din pala siya papasok.

"Uy matthew, dito ka na din papasok?" Liam asked him. Yes, they're kinda close. Unlike me, Liam is really good with people. He's like a ball of sunshine that's why marami talaga siyang ka close. Lagi niya ko pinipilit na sumama with him and his friends but I always decline.

"Oo, I decided to transfer when I realized na mas okay na sundan ko yung puso ko na dito mag aral sa UP" double meaning. Sundan ang puso my ass. He really knows how to piss me off big time.

"Oh shoot. 9:50 na pala. I need to go, see you around guys" He said as he looked at his clock and quickly walked towards the building in front of us. I was still looking at him walking away from us when I heard Liam talking beside me.

"O baka matunaw" I scowl at his remark. I'm not stupid, our grandparents obviously wants us to be together. He's a Silvera and I'm a Salazar, we're both part of the 5 founding families. I just can't understand why Matthew is following his grandparents like a puppy. He's really good at pretending that he likes me. Well, he can fool them but not me.

After that encounter, Liam took off. I'm not really familiar with the places inside this university, so I just walked until I saw a coffee shop besides a Large tree. It looks really nice, pumasok ako and the ambiance is really great. The theme inside the coffee shop resembles a tree, the colors green and brown were really standing out.

I went to the cashier and ordered an Iced Mocha, which is my favorite. I chose to sit near the window. I'm enjoying the view of people walking around outside with the soothing sound inside the coffee shop when it was interrupted by a woman's voice.

"Babe! What's this? Sino siya?!" I'm not the kind of person who likes to listen to the conversation of other people but this girl was practically shouting, I can't even hear the soothing sound that I was enjoying earlier.

I was already irritated. Bakit dito pa nag eskandalo to? Tinignan ko kung sino yung kinakausap niya. I saw a guy, black hair and mestizo. He was calmly drinking his coffee while his other hand was wrapped on another girl's shoulder.

"We're over. Get out of my sight" The guy calmly stated without even looking at the girl in front of him. Konti lang kami dito sa loob ng coffee shop and they got everyone's attention. First day of school drama.

The girl started crying. It seems like she cannot believe that she was just dumped in a public place. She quickly took the frappe the other girl was drinking and spilled it into her face. Even Though it wasn't intended, natalsikan sa damit yung lalake.

Even from my seat, I can see how the expression on his face changed. Earlier he was cool as a cucumber, right now he looks like he would let hell break loose.

"Get out." The girl was terrified. It can be seen in her face that she was definitely scared of him. She quickly left the store without even looking back. Damn, natakot siya dun?

"Why are you still here? I said get the fuck out" Di pa pala siya tapos. He looked at the girl beside him who's still covered with frappucino. She was on the verge of crying but she stood up and got out like he ordered.

I looked at the guy who was still sitting on his chair, It was getting really boring and irritating here. I can't even enjoy the view anymore. I yawned and saw him looking directly at me. What's his problem? Nakaka antok naman talaga sila ng mga babae niya.

Playboy, I don't even know why these girls are attracted to this guy. I will never like someone with that attitude. Patapon ugali.

I looked at my watch and it's already 10:20 AM so I decided to take leave, since my class will start at 10:30. Malapit lang din naman yung building from here, lalakadin ko na lang din.

Just before I got out of the coffee shop, I heard someone's voice.

"That's Asher Arrington for you"

Asher, huh? What an ass.
