I put the sword down, picked up the clothes, and started down the stairs. Then I heard my brother- whispering to someone, or maybe he had gone crazy and was just whispering to himself. Weird, I hadn't heard him come in. I edged closer to the bottom of the stairs, straining my ear to hear what the heck he was saying. Then I heard the other voices. "Are you sure she'll be able to transfer?" A girl's voice. "Uh yeah, she's only the most important person in all of dreams!"
"True, but still. She doesn't even remember it. Memory is a big deal in transferring!" My brothers voice; "I believe in her. She'll go through. If she doesn't, dreams is over. No more." What the heck were him and his weirdo friends talking about? Whatever. I got dressed and walked down into the living room. I wonder where they are... For all I know, they could be in the closet talking about 'dreams'
"SURPRISE!!!!" Nope. From what it looked like, they had planned a weirdo birthday party for me. Funny, I never thought he even cared about my birthdays. "David? what the heck is going on?"
"Um, Evelyn, your gonna stay home today. I'll explain later, but for now, we gotta give you your presents!"
"Wait, what? I get presents from all of you?"
"Yep!" All seven of them exclaimed.
"Oh! I gotta go get mine! It's upstairs. While I'm gone get settled on the couch, Evelyn!" Something isn't right. My brother is never this nice to me. Why is my seventeenth birthday so different? Oh my gosh. His friends. are. bowing. to me. they are seriously the weirdest people in the whole entire world. Whatever, it's my birthday and they all have gift bags in their hands, so I might as well sit down. "Okay! Here it is!" My brother comes and gives me a long, skinny gift box. As I slowly pull the ribbon off I start to wonder what the heck it is. A vacuum maybe? "Ugh! I can't get it!" I say, frustrated. "Yes!finally got it!" I'm honestly a little scared to open it though... I think to myself while slowly opening the gift. I finally bring myself to open it all the way- and gasp. It's the sword I found in his room. "Do you like it?" David asked, obviously proud of his gift. "Um, yeah! But why a sword? What's going on david?"
"I'll explain later. But for now we have to hurry. If I'm right, we only have twenty more minutes." that was weird. "Okay! Me next! I'm Hannah!" I open the present. "It looks like an iPhone." I say. "Nope! It's a transfer phone. now, you might not understand now, but it's very important that you click call on it right after you wake up. whatever you do, don't forget." Weird again. maybe the next one? "Okay! Me next! I'm Jason. I hope you like my gift!" This one I opened fast, hoping and praying it would be something normal. Nope. Wrong again. it was a tiny cylinder with two buttons on it. Yep, pretty weird. "push the top button." Jason insisted. I slowly pressed my finger to the hard, cold lump. A blade sprung out from the top of the little cylinder! I have to admit, this is pretty cool. "Thanks!" I say, hoping he knows that I think it's cool. "My turn! I'm Kaila, and this is your present!" She handed me a satchel, it was tan with icy blue thread. really beautiful, actually. "I love it!" I exclaimed. "now Evelyn, put all your presents in this. it's very important that you do so, because if you don't fall asleep with this touching you, you'll be in grave danger." Okay, sounds pretty important, I'll remember that. "next!" David practically yelled. "We don't have much time!"
"Okay okay, me next! Hi Evelyn, I'm Nilu, and here's your gift!" She handed me a small pouch. "you can't open it now though. put it in your satchel and open it when you wake up." whoa. this is almost too much information for me to remember! "Oh no! Only seven more minutes! I'm Elijah, and here you go." He handed me a small capsule. "don't open it in here, but when you do, just twist the cap off, and you'll be provided with your very own fire sword. "Wow, cool!" I was actually starting to like this! "And I'm Mia, here's your present. she handed me a blue lump of fabric, and as I unfolded it, I realized it was a cloak. it was beautiful. it was incredibly long, and the colors are spectacular. the main color is dark blue, with the most beautiful icy blue tribal-print on the top. "It's beautiful!" I gush. "Thank you all so much. but David, what the heck is going on?" This whole thing was honestly creeping me out. "Evelyn, your about to have your first dream." he handed me my satchel, and it all went black.
