Zuri's PoV
"Mooooooom!" Wendy yelled, stomping down the stairs with Azzy and I behind her. I just told her she can't go to school today and she flared up.
"Wen, its too early to cause this ruckus." Mama scolded her.
"Maybe you should talk to Zuri here so I stop it!"
Mama looked between us and asked. "Calm down, what is going on here?"
"Zuri said I can't go to school for a reason I don't know, when I'm ready with Brie waiting for me in front of her house."
"Why are you barring her from going?"
"I have no problem with Wendy going to school but with her going out with a total stranger, then she's not going." I said in a final and there's no room for argument voice.
"A total stranger?" Mama asked, clearly bewildered.
"Yes mother I overhead her conversation on Saturday night when they were fixing the date."
"What? You eavesdropped on my conversation? I can't belive this! You invaded on my privacy, something I don't even do to you!"
"What's with the yelling? I'm only looking out for you--"
"No you're not, you're peeping your nose in a place it doesn't belong. Me going out with a total stranger is none of your business, so stay out of it!"
"I won't stay out of your business when a stranger you know nothing about is involved." I shot back at her, Wendy was getting on my nerves and she knows it. She's being utterly disrespectful and all because of who, a stranger she knows nothing about? A stranger who wants her dead?
"He might be a stranger to you but he isn't to me. He has helped me in a way no one else did so stop talking like you know him because you don't." She said that, stabbing my chest with her index finger as she said each word.
"You're so naive, you know nothing about him. Wendy don't trust nobody not even your own shadow."
"Enough of this Zuri nothing you're gonna say is gonna make me stay home like you want me to so stop wasting your breath, excuse me." She rudely brushed past me, bumping my shoulder with hers.
I was fast in holding her hand, pulling her back to where she previously was, "listen Wendy, I'm sorry I listened in to your conversation when I shouldn't have but I did that for your own good---"
"My own good you say? If you care for me, even an ounce, you will stop controlling my life like you've been doing lately. Now I can't do anything I used to do, I can't go anywhere, hang out with my friends no more and always stuck at home when other teens like me get to do whatever they want but I can't because my control freak ass of a sister has my life in her hands. I wonder how Lui tolerates you so much." She said those words with so much anger.
Wendy left despite mother calling her to come back. I was left rooted in my step, shock, hurt sadness and disappointment, the only emotions I felt.
I was shocked and hurt by her outburst. I can't believe Wendy thinks of me as a control freak when everything I've been doing is for her own good.
She thinks I don't want her to live her life like a normal teen but I do. I want her alive even if I have to lose my life so she can be happy, fall in love and get to do whatever she wants.
I've failed as a sister, I'm the worst sister alive!
"Don't listen to what she said, she said it out of anger." Azzy tried consoling me, it was useless. Wendy has said what was on her heart and he was right in every way.
