Chapter 7

My phone rings loudly. I fumble feeling around to find it and I pick it up "Hello?" I ask yawning "Hey sweet pea it's Liz the manager at Charlie's. I looked over your application and you seem like a perfect fit for the job. What days are good for you to schedule an interview?" She says I smile "Oh um today or tomorrow is fine. I'm not really busy ever" I tell her in my morning voice.

"Can you come in around noon for today?" She asks I check the time that's in 3 hours "Of course thank you so much" I say "Of course see you soon sweetie pie" she says then hangs up the phone.

I immediately jump out of bed and into the shower. I wrap my hair in a towel I put on a white tank top,black jeans and a light wash cropped denim jacket.

I blow dry my hair and curl it. I put on some light makeup in an attempt to make myself look as presentable as possible.

I walk out into the kitchen and see Daniel shirtless in basketball shorts. He's cooking breakfast.

"Where are you going I'm making breakfast?" He asks "I got the interview and it's at noon" I tell him I check the time again 11:30. Wow I took that long to get ready? "Ok I can stay for breakfast. Can you drive me to the interview?" I ask sitting on the counter next to the stove.

Daniel hands me a plate "Yeah of course" I take a bite "This is exactly why you cook and I don't" I tell him he chuckles.

We finish eating and I join Daniel in his car. I give him the directions to Charlie's and we arrive.

He walks in with me "I'll wait for you out here" he whispers in my ear I nod and walk to the counter. "Hi I'm here for my interview with Liz" I tell the cashier "Ok I'll get her for you" she smiles.

A few minutes later Liz comes out of the back and greets me. She brings me through the kitchen into her office she motions for me to sit in the chair in front of her.

"Davina Newman right?" She asks "Yes ma'am" I say I cross my legs. "So it said in your application you worked at a coffee shop as a waitress?" She asks reading some papers "Yes, during summers I would work at a coffee shop as a waitress I did that for about threeish years" I say smiling she nods.

"Tell me about yourself" she sets the papers down "I am an outgoing person. I'm always wanting to learn more and I love people" ok maybe I'm lying but I really need this job.

She asks a few more questions like 'why should we hire you?' and 'Why do you want to work for us?' She finishes asking the questions and I was sitting there in awkward silence while Liz writes stuff down.

"Well it looks like you're a perfect fit for the job. You're shift starts tomorrow let me go get you a uniform" my face lights up "Thank you so much!" I smile.

She walks over to a drawer "What is your dress size sweetie?" She asks "A small" Liz pulls out a pink dress with a white collar and a half apron. "I will see you at 9am sharp have a nice day" Liz smiles are me I wave goodbye to her.

I walk out and see Daniel drinking a milkshake. I wave to him and sit next to him he slides the milkshake over to me I take a sip.

"I got the job" I say smiling "Yay I'm so proud of you" he says he stands up and hugs me while I'm still sitting down.

"My shift starts at 9 so you have to get up early" I tell him he shrugs "That's fine" I finish the milkshake and we walk to Daniel car and drive home.

I'm scrolling through my phone while on the couch. I give Daniel a serious look "Danny Devito is 75" I tell him Daniel just looks at me "No" he says "He's 75 I'm not joking" I show him my phone his jaw drops.

I laugh at his reaction. My phone rings it's a FaceTime from my mom.

"Hey mom" I say smiling "Hey sweetie how's Tallahassee?" "It's alright, I got a job!" I smile "That's amazing sweetheart I'm so proud of you. Where's Daniel?" She asks I laugh and Daniel scoots over to me and pops in the corner of the camera.

"Hi Mrs. Newman" he smiles "Daniel I've been telling you this since the day we met just call me Jenna" she tells him "I'm too far in now to stop Mrs.Newman" he says they talk for a bit while I hold the phone.

"Ok if you're going to have an hour long conversation with my mother you hold the fucking phone" I tell Daniel and I hand him my phone. "Davina don't be rude" my mom scoffs I laugh.

"It's ok Mrs.Newman I'm used to it" he looks at me and smirks I smack him on the side of my head. "Ow" he rubs the side of his head "Oh you're a big boy you'll get over it" I tell him while fake frowning.

I stand up and walk over to the fridge. I look through it and grab some cut up watermelon that's in a bowl.

I toss one into my mouth. "Hey that's mine" he says looking over at me I do the same fake frown I did a few seconds ago "Oh that's too bad" I tell him. He sets my phone down oh shit.

I climb on top of the counter and I stand up as I hold the watermelon up still taking pieces from it.

He walks over to me and tries to reach the watermelon but can't. I laugh at him "For once you can't reach something" I tease "And for once you can" he says still reaching to get it.

I end up eating the rest of the watermelon. Once I do I hand the bowl to Daniel "Oops all gone here's the bowl" I tell him.

He sets the box down grabs my ankles and slings me over his shoulder. "I should've seen this coming" I tell him there is no point in me trying to fight him so I just let him do whatever he is going to do.

He throws me on the couch. "Tell me you're sorry" he says as I laugh "Never" I say cackling because he's tickling me so hard. "Dani stop it hurts" tears fills my eyes as my laughter carries throughout the whole apartment. "Tell me you're sorry" he says I remember my mom is still on the phone "Mom help" I say laughing.

"I hung up with her" he told me he tickles me until I almost pee my pants "Ok ok I'm sorry" I say quietly through laughs. "I'm sorry what was that?" He doesn't stop "I'm sorry!" I yell he stops tickling me. "I forgive you" he kisses my cheek.

I grab my phone and Daniel follows me into my room.

"Fucking christ you're like a lost puppy" I tell him he cocks his head "Always following me around and shit. You're cute too" I ruffle his head and he laughs as he collapses onto my bed.

I walk over to my closet and pick out some shorts to wear.

I throw my jacket at Daniel then I slip my jeans off and put on the nike pros.

I collapse onto the bed and land on Daniel. "Ow" he grunts I roll over so I'm next to him and not on top of him.

"Your ceiling is patterned weird" he says I look up at my ceiling and notice the weird patterns he was talking about "You're right it is weird" I agree.

"Dani I want water" I tell him I turn on my side and face him "Go get it yourself I'm not your maid" he tells me I roll my eyes and stand up on my bed.

"Carry me peasant" I say Daniel stands in-front of my bed. "You're a piece a work Davi you know that?" He asks I jump onto his back and he wraps his arms around my calves. "Awe thank you" I kiss his cheek.

Daniel carries me to the kitchen and bends down so I can get a bottle of water. "To the bedroom we go" I say after I grab the bottle "That didn't sound sexual at all" he remarks "Get you're mind out of the gutter that's my job" I say. He sets me down on my bed.

I drink a sip of my waters and hand it to Daniel he does the same.

"Do you ever worry if one of us is going to get mono?" I ask "Well I'm not kissing random people are you?" He asks I shake my head no "Then we have nothing to worry about sweet pea" he pats my cheek.

"I really want to be the grandma from moana" I randomly blurt out Daniel sits up and looks down at me. "You know Davi you say the most random shit I've ever heard come out of anyone's mouth" he says "But that's why I love you" he tells me. "I love you too" more then you think.
