"It's okay." Glory reassured her girlfriend, twining her tail around Tsunamis.

"I know." Tsunami snapped, then seemed to catch herself.

"I'm sorry, it's just-"

"Your mother." Glory cut in quietly. The two dragons were sitting on a small island in the bay of a thousand scales, waiting for Tsunamis mother to arrive.

"I'm worried." Tsunami whispered. That in itself was alarming. Tsunami was never worried! And if she was she never told anyone about it!

"It's going to be okay," Said Glory, taking Tsunamis face in her talons. "You love me right?"

"Of course!" Tsunami looked shocked at the question. "Of course I love you."

Glory smiled and looked into the eyes of the dragon she wanted to spend the rest of her life with.

"And I love you." she whispered.

Tsunami smiled at her.

"Your mother will understand. "Glory said quietly, she gently pressed her snout against Tsunamis just as a loud splash indicated Queen Corals arrival.

Glory and Tsunami broke apart quickly, and thankfully the large Seawing was too busy talking to Auklet to notice.

"Oh Tsunami!" Queen Coral bounded towards them tugging Auklet along with her. "I've missed you so much!"

"I've missed you too mother." Tsunami muttered as Coral gripped her in a fierce bear hug.

"Mother." she complained as Coral still didn't let go.

"Oh of course, of course." Coral said quickly, letting her go.

Glory cleared her throat loudly. Tsunami glanced at her worriedly, twining her own tail with Glory's.

"Actually Mother," Tsunami said nervously. "I-we asked you here for a reason."

"Well go on then," Coral said warmly, sitting back on her hind legs.

"Well.." Tsunami began. "Glory and I are... in love." Coral looked at her for a second, then, to the surprise of both Tsunami and Glory, she burst out laughing.

"Oh good one sweetheart!" She cried, composing herself slightly.

Glory and Tsunami exchanged looks.

"I'm-I'm not joking mother."

Coral stoped her laughing fit and looked at her daughter crossly.

"It was funny once My Pearl, but not if you try it to much."

"No mother I'm not joking!" Tsunami urged.

Coral froze.

"Are you telling me that my daughter, PRINCESS Tsunami, is in love with a.... A lazy RAINWING?!" She exploded.

Glory flinched back against Tsunami, "lazy Rainwing" was thrown around enough to her under the mountain, she didn't like it being screamed by her Girlfriends mother.

"Yes." Tsunami said defensively. "And she's not lazy!" Coral and Tsunami continued arguing, but Glory couldn't here anything, it was like the world had slowed down.

She glanced at Coral as she shouted something at her daughter.

Glory squeezed her eyes shut, she knew what she had to do. She thought back to all the times under the mountain, where all of the dragonets would talk wistfully of their parents, what they could be doing, who they could be.

Glory remembered clear as day, she remembered how happy Tsunami had been to finally meet her mother, she remembered how she took so easily to life as a Seawing.

But she also remembered when Tsunami had said she loved her for the first time, their first kiss.

Glory looked at the dragon she loved, the one she had wanted to spend the rest of her life with, the one who she'd wanted to have future dragonets with, the one who loved her like no one ever had.

Then she glanced at her mother, the mother Tsunami had been searching for for years, the one she talked of constantly under the mountain.

We might be her family, Glory thought sadly. But we're not her real family, and I can't get in the way of it.

Glory knew what she had to do. She grabbed Tsunamis face in her talons as she had only minutes ago, when the future seemed bright, and she pressed her lips against hers.

Sharing one last kiss.

Then without a word she turned and leaped into the sky.

And with tears in her eyes, Glory flew away from the one dragon she ever loved.
