For libbylibbeeeep ! I'm sorry this took so long-

Warm sunlight enveloped Umbers small form, seeping into his scales and wrapping around him like the best hug he could ever imagine. There was a beautifully bright IceWing next to him, snarling something at a timid NightWing whose scales were the shifting colour of night, all dark blues and greens and purples.

A bright yellow RainWing was next to her, the ruff around her ears drifting with rose and crimson as she grinned at a small emerald SeaWing, whose dark eyes flashed from the shadows.

A dark SkyWing was hissing at anyone who came close to her, her massive red wings spread to soak up the sunlight, and her slitted yellow eyes murderous,

All of them were strange, and Umber was scared. He missed his Sibs, and he missed his place in the Mud Kingdom, where he was usually scared but he knew where he stood.

And then there he was, a crooked grin, a small pink scar, the eyes of a thief as he scanned the other dragons, as if assessing them

He had definitely stolen Umber's heart.

Wow, he's beautiful.

It was barely a whispered thought, but as soon as he had it the world plunged into darkness.

Umber was blinded by a sudden Burt of bright firelight, and deafened by the sounds of battle around him.

A trail of dark red blood was coating the sticky mud under his talons.

Umber looked left and right, full of confusion and a creeping sense of fear. He was in the war again, a battle raging around him as he cowered, feeling the burn of a wound on his snout.

IceWings were all around him, their terrifying claws sinking into MudWing scales as they roared and thrashed, hurling their Ice-Breath at anything near. Umber's Sib, Marsh, was beside him suddenly, his broad face covered in blood and his eyes full of panic.

Umber heard a blood-curling scream and turned to see an IceWing holding down a small MudWing, raking her throat with their horrid claws.

"Crane!" Umber knew where he was now, and he rushed to his sister's side, full of horror.

He knew Sora was beside him, and right now he didn't care. His beautiful sisters pale eyes were drained of life and her blood was turning his claws red.

And suddenly he wasn't looking down at Crane anymore, covered in her own blood, he was seeing Sora, curled in a ball and shaking with another nightmare.

"It's alright." Umber murmured, shaking her awake.

It was deadly freezing on the outskirts of the Ice Kingdom, but they'd had no where else to hide from any vengeful dragons who wanted Sora to face consequences for her accidental murders.

"Crane!" Sora jolted awake, her gaunt eyes stretched wide.

"It's ok," Umber wrapped a wing around her, feeling his heart pang with a familiar pain. "It was a nightmare. You're fine."

"Crane is dead!" Sora sobbed into her brothers shoulders, thin form even thinner than usual due to lack of prey. "And I failed! Icicle is still alive!"

"That's a good thing!" Umber hissed, turning to her. "You don't want to kill a dragon-"

But Sora was gone, in her place a beautiful SandWing with a pink scar was grinning down at him.

His scales radiated warmth as he threw a wing around Umber, barking a laugh.

"You're so jumpy." Qibli teased, pressing his forehead to the small MudWings. "You look as if I'm a Scavenger coming to eat you!"

"Scavengers are scary!" Umber squawked, wanting to duck away for affect but being stuck by the larger dragons warmth. "And I'm not jumpy, you're just..." He trailed off, unable to find anything to say.

"I'm what, Umber?" Qibli's voice had dropped to a murmured, his forehead still pressed to Umbers. "I'm what?"

Umber throat closed over and he blinked as he gazed into those warm black eyes, feeling the warmth of his golden scales against his own.

And then Qibli was gone, taking his warmth with him, and Umber was in the stands of Queen Burns arena, watching in horror as a Dragon-Bite Viper sprang from the box at the Queens talons, sinking its fangs into her ankle.

Burn let out a terrifying scream, and then Umber was down on the sands, crying with relief as he threw his wings around Clay and hugged his brother so, so tight as he fell again into a fitful unconsciousness.

"Umber?"

Umber jolted awake, panting.

Two pairs of warm black eyes were staring into his own, calming him.

"It's ok," His Husband murmured gently, resting their foreheads together. "It was just a dream. The war is over, we're safe."

The brown dragon relaxed and let out a breath, wrapping his wings gratefully around Qibli's warm shape. It always felt so good to wake up from his dreams, to find his life already fallen into place.

"Thanks," he smiled, then glanced over his shoulder, to the small slumbering shapes of three dragonets.

Beetle, Frog, and Armadillo were their adopted children, MudWing and SandWing hybrids from the Scorpion Den that had won their hearts as soon as they'd met them.

Umber turned back to Qibli and smiled again, nestling into his warm chest as closed his eyes and let himself drift off, sure there would be no more nightmares that night.

I FINALY DID UMBLI KINDA.  I'm so sorry this took literally a year- I hope it's worth it.
