For the first time in your time spent with the merciless Kylo Ren, you looked to him for comfort. For the first time in your life, you looked to another person to help you out of an incredibly awkward and scary situation.

Welcome home?! What the hell was that supposed to mean? All you knew was that the wrinkly old man continued to stare at you with the eye of suspicion, and you looked to Kylo Ren. For a moment you wished that you didn't have your helmet on so that you could explain to him through facial expressions that you were incredibly scared.

"What." You responded flatly, still keeping your eyes on Kylo who stared back at you reluctantly, and you wondered if he knew what Malsufa was talking about.

"It's you. You're the daughter of Luna Verona." Kylo Ren returned, almost in a whisper. The Senator seemed surprised that you had no idea what he was talking about.

But the name rang in your ears over and over before You realized what was truly going on. Although you did not know the name, it felt as if you had heard it a hundred times before. What did it even mean? Luna Verona had been a member of a sacred line of royalty, and you were nothing of the sort. And now she was supposedly your mother?! The thought was a scary one in itself.

From the recollections you did have of your mother, she was far from any Princess. You never lived in a castle, enjoyed splendid riches and glittery dresses, or even had the luxury of living in the center of town. Your mother, for the time she spent with you alive, stayed primarily at home, hidden away whilst your father hauled his way to town every day to work as a junk traitor for a small but honest living.

And for your entire life, you despised your mother for this. For what she had done to you and how she had left you the way that she did. Other than the single recollections you had of her, your most prominent memory was that of her not being there. Of you being alone for the majority of your childhood that you were meant to spend by your parents side. If it hadn't been for your mothers cowardice, you wouldn't be sitting there as a Bounty Hunter at all.

Your father's lineage was apparent. You knew that much. But how could a Bounty Hunter possibly get into contact with one of the most infamous bloodlines in the entire galaxy? And why would he chose to live in solitude with her? Give up his entire life and line of work for . . . Love? For a woman? You couldn't understand the flawed logic.

"You're out of your mind." You returned, flatly. "My mother was no Princess."

"She wasn't when she had you." The Senator corrected, and you and Kylo both turned to listen to him. "Since the . . . Tragic slaughter of the royal family, there was yet to be a single body recovered. It was that of Luna." He explained. "Everybody assumed that she had perhaps escaped the initial slaughter and was buried somewhere else, but it seems this was not the case. I always suspected that there was possibly an heir to her lineage, but I wouldn't have guessed it was somebody like you."

"Somebody like me?" You questioned, disregarding everything he said to be offended at the fact that somebody was, once again, prejudice against your Creed. Although you had endured the passive aggressive comments throughout your life as a Mandalorian, this incident struck you more than it would have on any other occasion. You were sitting right next to the Supreme Leader of the entire galaxy, and he still had the nerve to disrespect you.

He gave you a dirty look and his story came to a hault. "It's imperative that we run the proper DNA tests to make sure that these findings are accurate. In order to do so, my men will take you to where you will be treated." He looked away and guestered to the two guards beside the door.

Before you had time to protest, you felt two bulky hands underneath your armpits and you were lifted up from your chair and placed into the custody of two random palace guards. You contemplated kicking and fighting back as they hauled you up from your seat, but you considered the odds and stayed silent. Sure; you could easily take both of these men and the Senator if you truly wanted to. But outside the palace there would be the galaxy's most notorious militia waiting for you when you tried to escape. Instead, you complied. For now. It was bad enough being Kylo Ren's prisoner, it would be even worse to be the Senators.

As the guards continued to confine you, you looked to Kylo Ren. He seemed virtually unphased about your situation and didn't seem to care if they hauled you off into a prison cell to take your blood and tell you who you were. He saw no qualms in giving up his only heir to him in the name of political peace. This made your blood boil.

"You're just gonna let them do this to me?!" You growled at him, watching as he slowly stood up from his seat along with the Senator. "You said we were partners. You lied to me!" You were much angrier at the situation than you thought you would be. You were not angry that the guards were hauling you away, because you could easily take both of them. You were angry at Kylo Ren.

He looked like he wanted to do something. He looked like he wanted to stop the altercation and deal with the political issues separately, and you knew he was perfectly capable of doing so. But he didn't. He had brought you here to act as a peace offering to the Senator, and you knew that if the blood tests were positive, you would surely be put to death. Kylo Ren knew this. He had tricked you into believing that there could possibly be a future for you, with the Force, with the First Order, with him. But it was all a lie.

And in that moment when you made eye contact with Kylo Ren as the guards slowly hauled your heavy armor away, you wished that you were rid of your helmet so that he could see the pain in betrayal in your eyes. You figured that it didn't mean much to him, but you still wished he had seen it.

Just before they were about to take you from the room entirely, you caught a quick glimpse of the Senator- facing the dazed Kylo Ren with a blaster in hand, ready to fire. He was going to kill Kylo Ren.

For a moment, you felt your heart stop. Everything seemed to move in slow motion. You watched intently as the wicked Senator slowly pulled the trigger, and you lurched out of the grasp of the two royal guards. As much as you despised the manipulative, lying man, the thought of him lying dead on the floor before you made you feel sick. You knew in that instant that you had to stop it from happening.

"REN!" You screamed, and clenched your eyes shut as you heard the notorious ringing of a blaster shot. For the moment, your ears rang and you felt like all of gravity's weight was on top of you. You could hardly breathe with the immense pressure, and your heart was racing despite no real physical effort from your end. Everything was silent.

When you finally had the nerve to open your eyes, your arm was stretched out as if you were reaching for Ren. The guards grip on you seemed to loosen for just the slightest moment, and Kylo Ren stared at you in shock. When you finally looked over, you realized you had caught the blaster shot in mid-air, possibly inches away from Kylo Ren's person.

Kylo Ren didn't move an inch. He stood still, staring in awe at you: the bounty hunter from Tattooine with no proper training with the force. You were an untrained imbecile and yet there you were, stopping the shot in midair and saving both of your lives. You were shocked and pleasantly surprised with yourself as you looked around the scene.

You both knew you were in quite the pickle. The senator had, apparently, not only been out to kill you but the Supreme Leader as well, and this was something you were extremely eager to deal with. You looked over to Kylo Ren once again, heaving your chest in an attempt to catch a breath after your incredible feat.

He gave you the slight nod of approval, and you both went to work.
