"Sofie Anderson, with a broken leg, 3 broken ribs, and bruised all over. She is having surgery on her ribs today, so we hope that goes well." Mr. Saylor sounded sorrowful, like these students had been his own children. I felt sorry for Sofie, she was my new best friend. Maybe if i would have texted her, she wouldn't have gotten hurt. I could have drove her to school! Sometimes i really dont think well when i am annoyed at home.For some reason, I felt like Sofie getting hurt was my fault. That's crazy, I told myself. I mean, I just met the girl!!! I think I need to rest my worrying mind.
Later that day, around lunchtime, a girl walked up to me. She was a short girl probably about 4, 9", I thought. She was very sweet, though. Her smile made me feel better, but she was nervous to talk to me at first. She hesitated walking up to me. She had dark brown hair, and walnut colored eyes. "Hello, my name is Amber. Can I talk to you?" the girl said. "Sure," I replied. I didn't want to be rude. So I sat down next to the girl and we started to talk.
Just then, Mrs. Darkly, the secretary, came running through the cafeteria doors. I have never seen any adult run that fast. She had little drops of sweat running down her forehead. But she didn't care. She quickly got everyone quiet, and made her announcement. "Excuse me students, I have the latest report of Sofie Anderson." I then soon found myself helping everyone to stay calm and just listen. I don't know what it was about Sofie, but I acted like I had known her my whole life. Sometimes I wonder if I am just crazy, or if my mind is trying to talk to me.
"She is in the hospital, she had to get surgery on her ribs because some were broken. Also, a few were dislocated, and she had her surgery." said Mrs. Darkly. I think it was because she was out of breath, but her pauses in between sentances was like eternity. Finnaly, Mrs. Darkly finnished her announcements, " She just got out of surgery, and is doing remarkably well. " Lots of loud whoops and hollars went through the lunch room. It was amazing how many people were friends with Sofie. It was sooo nice!
