Two weeks had passed since the death of Choi Taewoon and Julia Choi. It has been unarguably the toughest two weeks in the lives of the Taewoon family. The death of one of the country's most prominent people has sent ripples of shock waves not only through the entire family, but through the entire country as well. It has been a herculean task for Cheonjoon and his siblings to come to terms with the sudden death of their parents. Cheonjoon has been on his toes trying his best to ensure that everything went on smoothly. As the heir to his father's magnificent business empire, he had to be extra careful. If there was foul play in his parents' death as Chun-Hei has strongly suspected, then the perpetrator of the crime might have a hidden agenda against the heir to the business.
As young as he was, Cheonjoon had been able to steady the ship of the family as much as he could. Cheon-Ha and Soojin seemed to be getting along quite well, having understood that their parents were never going to return to them. Grace had been ever supportive and trustworthy that Cheonjoon had learnt to trust her intuition and seek her opinion on every matter in which he had to make a decision. She had taken the death of her mother in good fate and helped ease the burden of family and business on Cheonjoon as much as she could. The domestic servants in the house had been cooperative and supportive as well. Taking on as much responsibility as they could and helping the young Cheon-Ha and Soojin to settle back to normal. Cheonjoon believed that he must be reaping his father's good deeds.
Another person who has been supportive as well was Chun-Hei and Cheonjoon was eternally grateful to him. He visited as often he could and offered him so much comfort and support and most importantly, a shoulder to lean on. The only thing that seemed not to be going right was the police investigations. Cheonjoon thought it was taking forever for the police to conclude their investigations and he was beginning to get really impatient about the delay.
Twice today, he had ringed up Senior Inspector Taehyun who was in charge of the case to find out if there was any progress. Twice, he had been told that he would be given a call back. Cheonjoon's mind raced through a field of thoughts as he flipped through some files in his father's private study, hoping to find anything at all that might give him a clue as to the actual cause of his death. He was a man known to value personal space and he loved to spend time alone in his private study. Everything that was deemed personal and confidential were kept in the study and no one but him had access to the study until his death when Cheonjoon had to force the door open in order to access it.
The study was filled with so many books and files that it would literally take anyone several months to go through all of them. For the past two weeks, he had been spending all of his spare time in the study, going through the file from one to another as carefully as he could. Hisphone rang as he flipped open another page on the document. He folded the file and headed for the reading table where he had dropped his phone. His heart leapt as he saw the caller. Senior Inspector Taehyun had finally made good his promise of giving him a call back.
He slid the receive button and placed the phone on his left ear. 'Hello sir,' he said, his heart racing faster than he would have loved it to.
"Hello, am I speaking with Choi Cheonjoon?"
"Yes sir. You are."
"Good. Now calm down," he said as if he could hear the racing of the young man's heart. "We have concluded all investigations pertaining to the death of your father and step-mother..."
"My parents," he interrupted.
"Julia Choi isn't officially your mother."
"Yet I do not need you to remind me that every now and then."
"Fine, whatever. I'm going to have to ask you to report to the Seoul Metropolitan Police Headquarters as soon as you can as this is definitely not a matter that can be discussed over the phone."
"Alright. No problem."
"Good. See you around then."
Cheonjoon placed a call across to his father's lawyer as soon as he dropped Senior Inspector Taehyun's call. He informed him of what the investigations had concluded and that his presence was required at the Seoul Metropolitan Police Headquarters. He asked that he meet him right away so they could go together.
