Miraculous Story

Part 12

Saturday morning Marinette worked with her parents in the bakery. After lunch, she took a shower and started getting ready for the dance.

Normally she only wore eyeliner, but for special occasions she liked to put on more makeup. She brushed on some eyeshadow and applied some mascara. She curled the ends of her hair, pulling it all to one side of her face. She secured it with a couple of clips.

Now it was time for the dress. Marinette stepped into her creation, pulling it up around her body. Tikki zipped up the back for her. To finish the look, she put on silver shoes with a kitten heel.  Being as clumsy as she was, she didn't trust herself to wear a high heel. Walking over to her full length mirror, Marinette examined her reflection.

"What do you think?" she asked her kwami.

"You look stunning Marinette!" she gushed.

Marinette chuckled. "Well I wouldn't go that far, but thanks Tikki."

It wasn't long before her mother called her from downstairs. "Marinette, your friends are here!"

"Coming!" she yelled back. She hurried down the stairs and found Luka, Alya and Nino in her living room along with her parents.

Luka was wearing a navy blue jacket and pants with a white button-down shirt. Nino had a dark gray suit on, accessorized with his signature headphones around his neck. Alya was wearing an emerald green tea-length dress with straps that crossed in the back. Marinette couldn't believe how amazing they all looked.

Marinette's mother gasped when she saw her daughter. "You look wonderful, sweetie!"

"Thanks Maman."

"Yeah, you look really great," Luka said, giving her a quick peck on the cheek.

"Alright, let's get a couple of pictures before you all go," Marinette's father said.

The two couples posed for a few quick pictures before heading out the door.

At the school, Adrien's bodyguard had just dropped him and Kagami off. Adrien was wearing his black-on-black suit that he normally wore to events, while Kagami was wearing a red and gold floor length dress. They made their way inside.

The courtyard of the school had been transformed. There were tables along one side and a dance floor with a stage along the other side. They were one of the first ones to arrive.

"Let's go find a good table," Adrien said, ushering Kagami inside.

They chose a round table with six chairs by the dance floor. "This is perfect" Adrien said. "Now we can share with Marinette, Luka, Nino and Alya." He pulled out his phone. "They already left Marinette's house, so they should be here any moment."

"Marinette is still going out with Luka, huh?" Kagami asked him.

"Uh, yeah," he replied, not looking up at her. He put his phone away. "Thanks again for coming with me, Kagami. You know you didn't have to."

"It's no problem," she said, looking towards the door. "Oh look, they're here!"

Adrien turned to see his friends. His eyes went immediately to Marinette. She was in a blush-pink floor length dress with a scalloped neckline. Flowers were embroidered along the side of the bodice and along the bottom of the skirt. Adrien stopped breathing at the sight of her.

"Let's go say hi," Kagami said, pulling him to the door.

Adrien walked right up to Marinette, not even looking at the others. She seemed taken aback when he came up close to her.
