Miraculous Story

Part 27

Adrien couldn't stop smiling on Monday morning as he got ready for school. He had had such a wonderful evening with Marinette. The goofy smile on his face didn't disappear until he went for breakfast. Then all the memories from Saturday night filled his head again.

He listened to Nathalie go over his daily schedule as he ate. His appetite was finally back so he finished his entire meal. When he was done he went outside to the waiting car. He felt relieved that he didn't run into his father.

Once at school he made his way inside to the courtyard. Marinette was there like usual.

"Hi Marinette," he said, stopping next to her.

"Hi Adrien," she replied, blushing.

"Hey, why don't we get to class?" Alya asked, trying to lead Marinette away.

"Actually, I was hoping to speak with Adrien," Marinette said.

Alya's eyes grew wide. "Oh! I mean, of course. You two talk! Come on, Nino. Let's go," she said, dragging her boyfriend with her.

When they were alone, Marinette whispered "I didn't even get the chance to tell you the good news last night."

"Sorry, I think we were a little distracted," Adrien replied playfully.

Marinette tried to contain her laughter. "Don't you want to know what your father said to me yesterday?"

Adrien's face dropped immediately. "What did he say?"

Marinette seemed a little taken aback by his sudden change in demeanor. "It... it's nothing bad. Quite the opposite. He actually apologized to me about what happened last week. About telling me to break up with you. And he said that we could start dating again."

He looked at her incredulously. "He said that?"

Marinette nodded. "Yeah, he said that he wouldn't interfere with our relationship anymore."

"So we can be together again? I mean, publically?" he asked, tears filling his eyes.

"Yes!" she said.

Adrien picked her up so her face was higher than his. "I love you so much, Princess," he said, looking up into her eyes.

"I love you Adrien," she said, leaning in to kiss him.

By the end of the school day, all their friends knew that Adrien and Marinette were back together. Most of them knew within minutes. Alya had screamed when she saw the two of them come into Miss Bustier's class holding hands. What followed was a chorus of excited squeals and clapping. You could barely hear the "Ridiculous, utterly ridiculous!" that Chloe declared. The word of their reconciliation quickly spread through the halls.

Adrien didn't want school to end. He was upset as he walked outside with Marinette after their last class.

"It's okay, I'll come visit you tonight," she whispered to him as they parted.

Back at home he had his Chinese lesson. Then he did his homework until it was time for dinner.

Adrien's heart sank as he saw that his father was joining him at the table. This was the first time seeing him since Saturday night. He avoided eye contact as he sat down and started eating.

"How was school today?" Gabriel asked him.

He paused for a moment before responding. "Actually it was great. Marinette and I are dating again."

"Well that's wonderful news."

Adrien looked up at his father. "I want you to stay away from her. Both of you," he said, glancing over at Nathalie before returning his gaze to Gabriel.
