xiv. who is this?!

After their encounter with Trilla and finding what they needed, the two rebels began to make their way out of the tomb and back to the Mantis. TN was silent and bitter toward Cal, the girl staying ahead of him and twirling the electrified staff around her. She was humming to herself.

They were approaching the shortcut to the Ice Caves. All they had to do was swing across a chasm by a vine, and continue to one of the lifts. They had to be careful of the jotaz though. TN remembered the way it threw her against the ground and felt as if all of her bones broke.

"Hey, TN?" Cal spoke up, BD-1 beeping quietly.

"No."

The girl's voice was low and cold. He could tell by the way she twirled the staff she was angry. TN continued to walk away from him, her eyes narrowed and angry tears threatening to run down her cheeks.

"I wanted to--"

"I don't want your apology, Kestis. You're right. I can't be trusted by anyone. I'm just...I'm no one."

The girl stopped in her tracks, her head down and making her bangs hang over her eyes. Cal slowly approached her and hesitantly placed his hand on her shoulder. TN tensed from the contact she received, but turned around to face him.

"You're not no one, TN. You're a rebel. Hell, I think you'll make history if you keep going with me." Cal said, placing his hands in her face and using his thumbs to wipe her tears. TN backed away from him and continued to walk.

As always, she doesn't show her emotions during times like this, Cal sighed as he followed her.

TN felt a fluttery feeling in her stomach when Cal gently caressed her face to wipe her tears. She did not know if it was from him being sincere or the mere fact he touched her so gently and as if she would break into a million pieces. The feeling she felt was foreign, and it terrified her.

Getting across the chasm with some difficulty, TN and Cal were stopped by a helmeted bounty hunter individual. A force field appeared around the two, TN readying her staff and Cal igniting his lightsaber. The bounty hunter flew up above them and started to shoot at them. Cal deflected the shots at him and used the Force to help TN. She jumped higher in the air and swung her staff, the electric end hitting the man down. She landed back on the ground and rolled out of the next line of fire.

"Who is this?!" Cal shouted to her.

"I have no idea--AH!"

The hunter threw a device onto her and electric tendrils enveloped her body. The girl cried out in pain as she writhed where she stood. The man struck her down, TN going unconscious and lying lifeless. Cal ran forward, but he followed the same fate as she did. He was electrocuted and struck down. Before he passed out, he reached out to grab her gloved hand, but was unsuccessful.

His eyes closed and he was enveloped in darkness.
