"hey.." i say.

no one responds.

"this is awkward," alvaro says, slouching in his seat, "can you guys at least talk about it?"
"i don't want to hear it," mattia replies in a harsh tone.
"matt-" kairi starts, before mattia cuts him off.
"i said, i don't want to hear it."
"i can exp-" i begin.
"stop!" mattia yells, "seriously."

"thanks for the ride," i say as natalie and i get out of the car.
"yeah no problem!" ale calls.

i hop onto a chair in my kitchen and talie crosses her legs next to me.
"im home!" i yell upstairs to my parents.
"soo that car ride didn't go well," natalie says, "don't you think mattia is being a little too sensitive?"
"i think he needs time, but im just scared that if he ever gives me another chance, he won't trust me as his girlfriend."
"that's his problem," natalie replies.
"hey girls!" my mom says, walking into the kitchen, "natalie! i haven't seen you in so long!"
"you know my parents," she sighs, "never letting me out of the house. speaking of which, i should probably get going before they get worried.."
"do you need a ride?"
"it's fine, i've walked home a million times. it was nice seeing you!"
"you too!" my mom calls.
"text me!" i yell, and she blows me a kiss back.

my mom turns to me, "how was natalie's last night?"
"huh?" i question.
"natalie's?"
"ohh! um, yeah it was great," i smile, "we just played board games."
"sounds fun," my mom says, "dont forget i'm going to need your phone by tonight."
"what? why?"
"you don't think forgot all about the alcohol in the kitchen, did you?"
"shit," i mutter under my breath.
"what did you say?"
"nothing, nothing, can i use it for my math homework first?" i ask, knowing i don't have any homework.
"20 minutes," she replies.

"y/n!" my mom yells, "phone, now!"

all i wanted was for mattia to trust me so we could actually call ourselves a couple. but i fucked it up, just like everything else.

"i'm coming," i say, walking into the kitchen and placing my phone on the counter.
"thank you, and don't be late for dinner!"

i drag myself back into my room and lay on my bed.

knock knock knock.

"who is it?" i yell.
"hey," maya says quietly opening the door, "you okay?"
"and suddenly you're nice to me," i reply, putting my face back into my pillow.
"i saw what happened at the mall."
"yeah and so did almost a thousand other people. my life is ruined at this point."
"no it isn't. thanks to me.." she smiles.
"what?"
"everyone had to delete the pictures once the cops showed up. you really think they're allowed to be sharing naked pictures of a minor?"
"what? wait, who called the cops?" i ask, sitting up.
"me, duh. i finally remembered what you said that night in my room, and i'm sorry for being mean before that. i had too much on my mind."
"it's okay," i say, "i guess i was a little harsh too. so no one has the pictures?"
"nope."
"how did they get the pictures off of everyone's phones?"
"it took hours," she said, "you know you're going to have to talk with the police right?"
"what else can they do? when i went to them before, they said we didn't have enough evidence."
"that was before someone spread your pictures around an entire mall. now it's real."
"so they're going to help us catch them?"
"y/n do you even know how serious this is? someone is stalking you."
"i know i-" i begin.
"i told mom and dad," maya cuts me off, "they had to know."
"what?" i ask, "are you serious?"
"what do you mean 'are you serious?!' this is a good thing, they needed to know."
"i mean, i guess. i was just scared before. they're not mad? what did they say? and what about kairi? is something going to happen to him?"
"calm down, the situation is taken care of, you don't have to do anything anymore. the cops want to talk to him too but in the mean time, please don't go anywhere alone. this shit is real."
"what about school?"
"there are people with you, you'll be fine," maya says, "but, mom and dad don't want you going over to people's houses anymore. you need to stay home."
"what about my friends?! i literally feel safer anywhere but here. this stalker knows everything about me!"
"and we're going to catch them," maya explains.
"don't you think the police have bigger cases to deal with? they won't do shit! it'll take them months just to start."
"y/n you're making a big deal out of nothing. staying home is the least you can do!"

i sit in silence.

"y/n!" my mom calls from the kitchen, breaking the silence.
maya follows behind me as i get up from my bed and walk out of my room.
"why didn't you tell us about this sooner? we're so worried for you and your safety!"
"i'm sorry," i say quietly, "i don't know why i felt like i couldn't tell you."
"we're going to find this person, okay?" my dad adds, "you should never feel like you can't talk to us."
"thank you," i say, "but can we just stop talking about it for a minute? i'm so sick of it."

ding ding ding ding ding.

"is that my phone?" i ask.
"oh!" my mom says, "yeah it's been blowing up with notifications from someone named... mattia?"
maya looks up in awe.
"wait, it's not what it looks like," i say.
"really? it's not? i told you to stay away from him," maya replies angrily.
"but," i start.
"don't even try to explain yourself. and to think we were just getting along? you're so fucked," she says, storming out of the kitchen.

great.
