"should i do the charcoal face mask?" kenzie asks while rummaging through her bathroom drawers.

we had been at her house for an hour already. natalie fell asleep almost immediately after we went into kenzie's room leaving just me and her, alone.

"definitely," i say, "and gimme some too. i haven't done a face mask in so long."
"remember when we tried to make face masks that one time in 7th grade.."

we both burst into a laughing fit.

"oh my god, i had a rash on my face for like 3 weeks after," i joke, "never again."
"i miss this," kenzie says while applying the mask onto my face, "we haven't hung out in forever."
"yeah," i answer quietly, "i wish we didn't go into different friend groups freshman year."
"i remember our promise to stick together," kenzie adds, "but hey, look at us now!"
"yeah, at least it's kinda like old times again.."
"i hope we can stay close like this, for good," she smiles.
"me too."

after kenzie and i finished catching up and taking off our face masks, i fell asleep pretty quickly. i was snoring peacefully until my phone began to vibrate over and over under my stomach.

i giggled at mattia's messages but of course i couldn't just go back to sleep. i looked around my room and noticed natalie and kenzie were nowhere to be found. of course my overthinking ass began coming up with a million things that could've gone wrong; kidnapping, running away and even murder.

"stop," i thought to myself, "we need to be logical here. let's just look for them around the house first."

i got up slowly and made my way to the kitchen. soon i had covered both floors and the only place left was the basement.

the floorboards creaked as i carefully tiptoed down the steps, obviously scared out of my fucking mind. i heard faint whispers in the distance and peeked my head out to see the whole basement floor. thankfully, i saw natalie and kenzie calmly talking around a desk table. i squinted my eyes at the computer screen, trying to see what they were looking at.
