"mattia!!" i call from his bathroom, "do i look okay?"
"damn," he says, "you look amazing."
"is this too much for a party? i've never been to one of kairi's!"
"ohh, i forgot you used to be miss innocent," mattia teases, "it's perfect though."
"okay good," i reply quickly packing all my things into my bag.
"are you suree your parents wouldnt let you stay over tonight?" mattia pouts.
"i'm positive," i say, "im not even supposed to be going to a party, let alone staying overnight at a guy's house."
"one day," mattia smiles, "anyway we should get going. do we have to pick up natalie?"
"i don't think so," i say, "she's being weird, i don't know why she's not picking up my texts."
"is she mad or something?" mattia asks.
"it's hard to tell with her, but i didn't do anything wrong.. i think she's just busy."
"yeah i'm sure it's nothing," mattia assures me, "i'll be waiting for you in the car when you're ready."
"i'm almost done!" i call as i grab my earrings from my bag.

-
we pull into kairi's driveway after a quick car ride.
i glance at my phone as we begin to walk inside of his house,
"oh shit.. matt i thought you said we wouldn't be late!"
"we're fine y/n," mattia says, "let's go before someone notices we aren't there."

as soon as we walked into the door, mattia and i were greeted with groups and groups of people. i knew mattia was popular but this party only further proved it. it was definitely going to be hard to live up to the expectations of being his girlfriend.

"okay now that we've established you know everyone at this party, why don't we actually get something to drink?" i joke.
"most of these girls don't even care about me, they just want clout."
"yeah sure," i reply, "it's not like you're attractive or anything."
"that's your opinion," mattia laughs, "believe me, i've had my share of opinions from people who weren't as nice."
"i guess that's what comes with being famous," i say.
"yeah i guess," he mumbles looking down.
"wait, i didn't mean it like that," i quickly answer.
"it's cool, so do you want water or apple juice?" mattia teases as we walk into kairi's kitchen.
"oh shut up, it's not my fault alcohol tastes like cat piss."
"again, your opinion," mattia says as he opens a beer can, "i'll take that as a yes to the water."

he walks to the other side of the room to grab a water and i notice a familiar face dancing next to a boy.

"talie!" i yell, motioning her to come over.
"y/n!" she exclaims, stumbling over to me, "how long have you been here?"
"mattia and i just got here," i say, "i have a lot to tell you.."
"mattia?" she questions, "i thought you said you were too busy to hang out earlier."
"yeah," i say, "because i was with mattia! oh my god, he took me to the most amazing place.. there were rose petals and-
"i thought we always put each other before guys," natalie scoffs.
"what?" i ask confused, "but it was our first date? i thought you would understand."
"maybe i'm overreacting," she says, "but i don't want to lose you to some stupid boy."
"he's not 'some stupid boy,' he's my boyfriend."
"that's not what i meant," she quickly replies, "i know this relationship stuff is new to you, and i don't want us to end our friendship over it."
"i don't either," i say, "but i have to make time for mattia too."
"and i respect that," natalie pauses, "im sorry."
"all good," i smile, "are we still best friends?"
"oh please, you would have to do a lot more to get rid of me," she laughs.

"you'd be surprised how many people know me from tiktok," mattia interrupts, handing me a water, "i had to talk to at least 10 people just trying to get a water bottle for you."
"mattia, you have millions of followers," i joke, "everybody is gonna know you."
"very funny," he answers sarcastically, "oh wait, did i interrupt something here?"

natalie and i exchange looks before she speaks out, "you're fine, i was just about to get back to my friend over there. i'll see you guys later!"
"see you!" we both call back.
"where are your friends anyway?" i ask mattia.
"who fucking knows," he replies, "most of them are with a new girl every party."
"okay well.. who else is here?"
"let's look around," he says pulling my hand into a crowd of people, "i'm sure kairi's here somewhere."

the music was blasting loudly in my ears as we passed through groups of couples making out and people playing beer pong. i felt a hand grab my ass as i tried to keep up with mattia.

"watch where you're going, slut," the guy said when i turned around.
"the fuck did you call her?" mattia snaps, pushing him back.
"ooh i'm so scared," the guy says sarcastically, "look at her shorts and tell me she wasn't asking for it."
"her shorts don't fucking give you permission to touch her."
"matt," i quietly whisper, "it's fine, people are staring."
"no," he says, "it's not fine. he can't do that to you. i dont give a fuck who's watching."
"you think you're the shit don't you?" the guy asks.

mattia pulls me out of his way and doesn't respond.

"have you seen your girlfriend's pictures? they're pretty hot," he continues.
"you're fucking sick," mattia says.
"for looking at pictures of a pretty girl? do you even know how many girls' pictures get leaked? y'all aren't special, it's not that deep."
"oh really? it's not that deep? tell that to the police."
"what could you even turn me in for? calling you out? your girlfriend's just an attention-seeking dramatic bitch."

i can see the anger build up in mattia as he throws a punch at the guy's face. a fight quickly breaks out.

"mattia!" i yell, pulling him back, "get off of him!"

another girl attempts to help me break apart the fight but we were unsuccessful. we had to let them be.
