"How rich are you?" The question that left Eva's lips startled her dad.
It was a nice calm evening if you didn't mention how Ruby didn't even acknowledge him. She was mad at him but there was no reason to apologize. She was a no one to him and he wanted to leave it that way. The less people you have around the calmer your life is: that was his mantra.
He was sipping on a glass of red wine and sitting with Eva to check the homework she already done with Ruby. The neat papers and writing kept him amazed at how Ruby controlled his little devil and managed to keep her focus enough to answer so methodically and tidily: Every tick was inside the correct box. Every line was drawn with a ruler and the coloring he had to ask three times if this was Ruby's or Eva's.
"Why would you ask?" Sin puzzled bringing his glass down on the nearby table and eyeing his girl weirdly.
" Can't you convince Ruby of becoming my nanny? Pay her more than a web designer gets." The blond suggested and Sin's lips thinned in disagreement.
"Is she using you to get more money? Is she a gold digger?" He taunted but stopped when Eva came to her feet and rose a threatening finger at him.
The similarities between Sin and Eva are plenty. She is truly a daddy's girl. She inherited all his physical attributes, sarcasm and humor. Seeing her one would instantly guess that the girl was Sin's daughter. The resemblance was striking and he loved that because he was her only parent. The only one entitled to be called her parent. After all , he was the one who take care of her since she was a little crying one-week-old baby.
"Watch it dad! Ruby is nothing like the nannies that you pick for me. She doesn't need your money or anything from you. She doesn't even want to talk to you, like ever. I heard you yelling at her today and you made her cry...I overheard her secret and know why...You were mean to her and now it is all beyond repair. I was just wishing to have her near because she truly cares for me unlike those stupid barbies you hire. You know what if I had a mother , I would wish for her to be Ruby." Eva continued her stand on Ruby's behalf and her blue eyes deepened in anger towards her dad. He had no right to hurt Ruby and she won't stand for that.
"Eva, what did we say about manners and talking back?" Sin grumbled hating the idea of a stranger sharing his daughter's love. How did his neighbor find her way so quickly into his girl's heart?
"You didn't use them with Ruby. Isn't this what you called a fair game?" Eva shot again making him roll his eyes.
Growing with him as a role model is not the best thing. Growing up around adults only isn't great either. Eva grew loud, sarcastic, energetic , witty and clever. Even her teachers were amazed at how mature the girl is and how she kind of ruled the class. No one would mess with her one she could make them cry with dry humor.
"Why would you defend a stranger ?" Sin couldn't stop himself from asking.
"She isn't a stranger to me. I have been at her house many times before. I even through the ball in her garden purposely so I would be invited in. I love going there. Everything feels warm and happy. Ruby would pay attention to me, ask about my day, tell me stories and offer me sweets while every nanny that you brought would be taking instagrams of the food Ruby offered me. Your nannies didn't care about me all are stupid plastic barbies. If you want to make me the happiest make her my nanny or even better my mom" Eva once again repeated the same offer making Sin cringe. He didn't need a wife and he doesn't want one especially one who is so far away from fitting into his idea of perfect.
"I will try to talk to her about the nanny position. However , she won't be your mother, not now, not ever." Sin said slowly making sure that his little rebel heard each and every word.
"Apologize first and we will see about the mommy position." She smirked evilly at him and he was left frightened at what plots and plans she is making inside that devilish mind of hers.
"Now, go to bed. Eve is probably coming by eight to spend the weekend with you." Sin ordered which reminded him of the need to look for a new nanny ; either Ruby or one of his usual eye candies. He is yet to decide.
"Oh, no she is not. I stole your phone earlier and told her that I am spending the weekend with Ruby. Eve has some papers to do and Ruby agreed to me spending the whole day there. You can pick me up by seven each evening. " The little girl informed and Sin felt like pulling his hair.
"Okay..." he finally agreed cursing himself for making out with Amelia and landing himself in such situation. If he only paid attention to his daughter that day or just locked the door to ensure she wouldn't leave...If only.
"Yey! Love you, daddy. " Eva chanted throwing her little arms around him giving him a quick hug then like a breeze she disappeared into her room telling her teddy tomorrow's plans with Ruby. Their gonna make some pancake art or something of such sort , he heard. Then they will watch Frozen one and two...Why is this strange woman offering his kid all the care and attention that a kid wants without really wanting anything back? Does she have a plan in mind? Is she gonna ask for money once she finds him alone ? Should he convince her to be a full time nanny and double her salary ? God knows that he has the money and powers to convince anyone of anything. He wasn't a lawyer for nothing.
Bringing his wine glass back to his lips, Sin decided to visit Ruby's a little before seven tomorrow. He needs to study the enemy to understand her purpose and reveal her goals and develop the proper plan of dealing with her. Maybe it will only take one check for her to disappear and let his life go back to its peaceful pace.
So 17 is good enough ( I just couldn't wait XD )
Now for real what if we try to reach 30 comments?
