Sin's Pov:

It is been days since that asshole showed up, all is fine by now. My daughter is no more sad and Ruby is no more tense. It took Ruby two days of reassurances and promises to ease Eva. We found her crying herself to sleep and because of that Ruby spent the night ,at my place. Once again, Ruby was dressed in one of my shirts and waltzing around my home like she belongs there. Eva didn't want to come out of bed that night and acted mad but with a slice of cake and her favorite movie Ruby managed to make her happy. 

Seeing Ruby rooming so freely in my shirt only made me feel something. Something that felt like a current running through me and making me warm. I cannot name it but I couldn't shake it or the stupid little smile that plastered on my face. By the night, she knew every corner of my house. She was baking in my kitchen without asking for my help. Best of all I got a free show of how she does every normal task: she sits on the floor and waits by the oven when she is baking. She has a fear of forgetting about what's in the oven, she explained. She gathers her dark waves in a messy top bun but allows few hairs to fall freely. She also loves to play the room and huffs in frustration every now and then. Finally, that woman plates food like a master chef or at least did so to ease Eva. I felt jealous seeing the plate she offered to her but I had to suck it and act like a grown man because now it was Eva's turn to enjoy Ruby's attention.

I was gonna tell Eva to stop being so stubborn and harsh but Ruby shushed me. I knew that Eva understood well that Ruby is here to stay but she also loved the attention she got of her. Ruby said that Eva have dreamed for a while of having a mother and that's why fear struck her when she met Aron. Ruby continued to say that it is not easy to get something snatched from you after years of praying for it. She continued to tell how fearful Eva was the first time the word "mommy" slipped out of her lips; she feared Ruby's reaction but my neighbor hugged her making her cry in content. 

"Come on, Ruby." Brad whined yet again.

"Shut it. Let her try it peacefully." I warned owning a huff.

"You are going to soil her." Eva whined and I was done being it the middle of these two.

Tonight, we ,as in Brad and I , decided to take  Ruby out with us. We are gonna hit our favorite club and so we invited her to see our world. Since she didn't deny my suggestion of fun, we told of our plans and she surprisingly agreed. Eva though gave us a lecture about turning Ruby into a one of us, a bad girl with no morals. She threatened to hate us forever if we don't bring her Ruby back by midnight. Both , Brad and I, reluctantly agreed when Eva took the only keys to our offices and hid them only god knows where. She threatened to end our careers if we touch a hair out of Ruby's. My daughter is scary, at times.

Standing up to move , I was nearly knocked back in place as Ruby emerged from the changing room. I picked her dress; a green cutout bodycon dress that reached the middle of her thighs and left her long legs out for admiration. The color of the dress reminded of my first shirt that she wore. Even though she put up a fight about how revealing the dress is, we teamed against her convincing her that it is not. Now I see how she might consider it daring. It did sculpt her shape. It hugged her figure flattering  flattering all of her curves and its plunge neckline left so little to one's imagination. She is gonna turn heads tonight. That thought made a bile rise in my throat.

"Maybe if it was a little bit longer and looser." Ruby whined covering the cutout with one hand and pulling on the dress with the other.

"I know something long that can loosen you." Brad flirted and without thinking of it I stepped right on his foot making him cry in pain.

"Sorry, I didn't notice your foot." I lied continuing to eye Ruby.

"You look beautiful Ro, like a mermaid." Eva assured happily not caring about the commission with Brad.  

 " You look good, Ruby" I promised walking to her and taking both her hands off the dress to see how good it fits her before finally buying it.

"I have stretch marks. I cannot just wear such daring things." she said covering the top of stomach once again.

"You are good and none of us have noticed them." I added seeing how she spoke so lowly like she felt ashamed of her body, the same body that giving me an intense drive by now. If we were different people I would have no problem tearing her dress off of her and enjoying her warmth. 

"I cannot...I have battled with weight loss for so long because I don't fit in the usual understanding of beauty and my body took the toll. I have marks on my stomach because of the crash diets that I went on to please... I am flawed." The usually happy go lucky neighbor of mine spoke as her hands fell to her sides and I was able to see the faint white lines she spoke about.

"You are beautiful, Ruby." Eva interrupted and ran to hug her.

"I agree with Eva. You are beautiful Ruby and those lines are the tale of your growth. We are all flawed somehow so don't be harsh on yourself." I added and her dark eyes connected with mine making me shiver. She mouthed a silent thank you then bent down to hug Eva back.

" Why do I feel like a third wheel or the ugly duckling in the family. No one is paying attention to my pain." Brad cut in making me roll my eyes at how dramatic he could be...I can easily be considered a father of two: a smart and sassy six year old and a full grown adult with a childlike mind and a loud personality. 

"You will never turn into a beautiful swan, though." Eva mocked right back as if she had an all ready made comeback just for him.

"You better run fast because I am gonna get you." Brad uttered and Eva shrieked loud and started to run around the store with him following her. 

"We are gonna get thrown out soon so let's pay for the dress. " I noted pointing at the assistant  who yelled behind Brad and Eva.

"Thank you for everything, Casanova." Ruby smiled warmly at me and my heart fucking stopped, what the hell is happening?

"You are more than welcome, kitten." I replied wanting to sound as smooth as possible even though my voice wanted to crack , what is happening to me?
