Nishinoya pov
The ref blew the whistle, signaling the final point of the game. We won nationals! That was it, though. It was the last time I'd ever play with the Karasuno crows. Crazy.
I look over at Tanaka and we just start crying. It was a happiness that we won and claimed the title, but a sadness that our journey was over.
Looking up into the stands, there was a lot more people than there ever was, especially my first two years. But there's one guy who's always been there. At almost every game. Each year.
(L/n) (C/n). . .
He was in my class, so he was graduating too. He had better grades than I ever did. We were actually kind of close friends. We hung out a few times with a group of friends, but he was more a friend of friends than a friend. I wanted to change that, but I got so caught up with volleyball and it was too late now.
Too bad, he's really. . .
Really cute. . .
Next thing I know, I got accepted into college to play volleyball. It was in Tokyo, so I couldn't commute back and forth like some of the other students. I had a dorm and a dorm mate, but I didn't know who they were. A guy, probably. Definitely! The dorms were sperated by gender, duh!
Okay, I'll admit, I'm a little nervous. I hope he's okay with the LGBTQ+ community. . .
As I open the door, I wasn't expecting to see anyone just yet, but there's a very familiar boy standing there, looking at a rainbow flag on the wall. It looks like I don't have to worry about him knowing that I'm pansexual! There's that at least!
Hold on, that looks like-
"(L/n)??"
He turns around. "Nishinoya?"
"Oh, thank gosh I don't have to room with some smelly, lazy, homophobic bastard!" I give him a hug.
"Yeah, me too!" He smiles, stepping back. "Congratulations on nationals by the way!"
"Oh, yeah! Thanks!" I chuckle.
We spend the rest of the day catching up, getting closer, and unpacking. He seems like he's hiding something, but it doesn't feel like it's something bad or threatening, so I just ignore it.
Besides, I'm hiding something too. Something other than my crush on him.
Next Day; Reader pov
I can't believe I'm dorm mates with Yu Nishinoya! Of all people! I got lucky to say the least!
I'm glad I held off on hanging up my trans flag! I don't know what I would do if he found out and hated me for it. He's really attractive. I guess if we started dating he should know. But for right now, he's just really attractive.
I always went to the volleyball games because he just looked hotter than usual when he sweat. And the look on his face! It was difficult to see sometimes, but it was so intense. He's hot. That's all there is to it.
We bid each other good night and go to our respective areas of the dormitory. Luckily, he never saw me without a binder.
In order to keep this secret for as long as we're going to be room mates, I know that I'm going to have to over wear it sometimes. It's a risk I'm willing to take. He can't know. He just. . .
can't.
Classes don't start for another week. We just have to get used to the new situation of being away from home, living with someone else, and preparing to study.
