I've gotten a number of messages about this-
(C/n) stands for your chosen name. As in, the name that you picked for yourself when you realized you were trans.
Normally in "x reader" fics, it's (y/n) for your name.
And a few people have asked me if that's because I don't think t hat your chosen name is you real name or something like that, which is not the case by any means.
I have personally been reading "x reader" fics for years before I realized I was actually a boy. So my brain has an automatic filter that translates (y/n) to my birthname and I get pretty uncomfortable whenever I think of it.
So, I try to avoid that so I don't get insane amounts of dysphoria when I'm writing and any of my readers who are kinda the same in that sense don't either.
So I cut out (y/n) all together and if I use your birthname for some reason (a request in which the reader finds out they're trans and doesn't know in the beginning, for example) I just say (b/n) for birthname. Under any normal circumstance I try to avoid even that and just use (c/n) instead.
I also just figured out my identity fairly recently, so this helps me get used to being identified as a name other than my deadname as well.
If you have any more questions about this, DM me and I'll try to answer. I'll be posting the same thing on my MHA version.
