The walk back to my building to get ready for tonight was laying squarely on my shoulders with each step I take. With every passing body walking by me I just feel the urge to go fill my stomach with food. No I wasn't going to the café again and as much as I wanted to shower again I didn't feel up to it. I fumble around in my wallet for my Royal Card and swipe in my building and before I realize it I'm running to the elevator so I can make it to my room. Beeep... 2nd floor... beeep... 3rd floor come on now come on – the elevator of all times is moving so damn slow. I tap my foot as I'm flushed with a sea of impatience and paranoia. The dorm after all is co-ed so at any point anybody can walk in. Once the elevator hits the 5th floor I rush out walking quickly and with purpose. I turn the corner and walk down the corridor almost approaching my room. Before I make it in the door good enough I can hear the door swing wide open and one of my lightskin boy best friends grazes by me looking disheveled. We have been at the hip ever since I came to AlphaView and that would be no other than the one and only Calvin Hernandez. The perfect blend of chocolate with a hint of bad boy Latino. I sound like I'm ordering coffee and I'm not even a coffee type of girl – hot cocoa is more my taste maybe even chocolate milk. Back off me I'm a kid at heart.
I promise you his shirt was ripped and he's sweating so much it's like he rolled around in it or like he was benching 350 in the gym. He looks down at me as I'm walking and got the nerve to smirk at me. I glance down and immediately regret it and I feel my eyes rolling heavenward. Clearing my throat, "I see a belt is not the only thing that you have strapped down". In his playful way he brushes up against me in a way of challenging me to crumping. What are we in high school again? This isn't Brittney and Jessie from Bring It On: All or Nothing. This boy is crazy but hey he's definitely my best friend too. "What's wrong Sheeda you jealous?" He grunts and flexes on me as if he's trying to force me to move to the side. I push him slightly, "I'm not Irish so therefore you're not lucky and last time I checked I don't like anything tiny". Jasmine couldn't help herself but laugh. I mean the girl just bursted out and a laugh bubble came out. She was not making the situation any better by wearing just the bed sheets as her dress and makeup smeared on her face. He couldn't even kid himself, "At least I'm a man with my new hairs in my beard growing". He finds the hairs or as I like to call it whiskers on the bottom of his chin. Oh okay bet I got your tiny whiskers.
Reaching up I stroke them two little whiskers and before you could blink and wink your eyes, I snatched those little hairs out his chin. He jumps clearly taken aback and classy as I am I handed him his little whiskers in his hand. "Mmhm take your little whiskers and throw them in the trash on your way out the door werewolf". I howl as he walks away – for those keeping score at home that's Calvin 0, Rasheeda 1.
I close the door to my satisfied relief, and Jasmine was hollering laughing on the bed rolling her legs like a stiff roach or something. I stand there perplexed and I hope my eyes speak as loud as my mouth, "Jasmine you're out of order". She inhales as she's laughing and then just squeezes her pillow tightly muffling her laughter as she's exhaling.
"I'm sorry I couldn't help it you really should have my last name Frost because that was just ice cold", she mutters out of breath. I roll my eyes trying not to laugh back at her, let me be mad for just one second. I look in the fridge and take out my leftovers and heat them up in the microwave. "I heard Matt got you all hot and bothered". Damn it here we go the Jasmine Frost Intervention with the five o'clock news.
"I don't know what you're talking about", I stuff my mouth hoping she'll drop the subject and boy was I wrong. I can feel her getting started right now.
"Bullshit...Rasheeda we've known each other since the start of AlphaView and I know you like the back of my hand. You're the best roommate I've had and you're my best friend so that gives me the right to know so go ahead, come on tell me". Jasmine props herself on the bed giving me her best shot at puppy starry eyes
