"Sky, hey Sky! Yoo-hoo!"

I look up and meet Pamela's golden brown eyes. She had been calling my name for so long that Michael had actually broken concentration from the tv.

"What's wrong?"

I shook my head. I smiled for the sake of holding a composed appearance in front of the boys but I quickly pull her back upstairs. Once safe in my room I showed her my phone screen.

"Oh, my God. Did you open it?"

I shook my head as I paced back and forth, biting my nails.

"Well, what are you waiting for?"

"What do you mean? I can't open that!" I hastily stated.

It had been about 5 months since I had returned back from the hospital. 5 months since I caught Cameron cheating on me. 5 months since I had my heart utterly and completely shattered.

"Of course you can!" replied Pamela, while settling onto my bed. "Just read it. You haven't heard from him in months. C'mon you can't still be hung up over him."

"Of course not." But deep down, I was. That singular moment had changed my life. The late night texts, the spontaneous dates, the kisses, his touch, was it all a lie? Even as I would lay next to Luke, most nights my mind was far from where they should have been.

Was I not good enough?

Was there something I could have done differently?

Am I worthy enough to be loved?

These are feelings I haven't shared with anyone, not even Pamela. Not even Luke. I couldn't reveal this to them, how could I? After all, he screwed up but why do I feel like I was the one who hurt us? They just wouldn't understand.

I'm brought back down to Earth by Pamela calling my name once more.

"Listen, I'm not pressuring you to do something you don't wanna do, but who knows? Maybe he feels so bad that he's willing to give up his Disney money as an apology. He'll be turning "Hey, Jessie!" to 'Sorry, Skylar!'"

I chuckled a bit, alleviating the aching from my chest a bit.

Pamela hands the phone back towards me, returning the knot back into the pit of my stomach.

Before my mind had a chance to overthink, I heard my name being called again, this time by Dad.

"Skylar! Pamela! Come and eat breakfast and come quick, Niall will be here any second!"

We locked eyes while the panic settled in and immediately ran down the stairs. Before leaving I threw my phone onto my bed, not wanting to think about Cameron and what he had to say. All I wanted to think about was how I was going to get a nutritious breakfast in before Uncle Niall arrived.

As I served waffles and bacon onto my plate, I glanced up to see Luke shrugging off his blanket onto the couch and rising up, leaving a sad Michael behind as he headed upstairs. I was about to call his name but I quickly dismissed it and began scrambling as I locked eyes with Uncle Niall who was standing at the front door, kicking off his shoes and racing towards me.

As I shoved Uncle Niall and he shoved me back for the last piece of sausage link, I see Luke stick his head around the frame, staring at us in bewilderment.

"What? I'm hungry and this man eats too much!" I sassily state towards Luke.

"Nuh-uh!" countered back Uncle Niall.

"Yuh-huh!"

As we began arguing, on top of shoving, Luke disrupted this by asking if I've seen his lip ring.

"The last I saw it was on my night table, wanna check there?"

"Yeah, thanks."

He heads upstairs, leaving me alone to deal with a hungry and slightly violent Niall. He comes back down after 5 minutes, with an angry expression on his face, leaving me skeptical as he puts on his Vans and his flannel and heads out into the chilly October air.
