Honestly, any type of romantic feelings were very foreign to me.
Before you slammed into me in the school hallway, of course.
"Give me a bite of that donut, come on." Deeley whined and made grabby hands at your donut as you steered the donut away from her.
"No." You turned and stuck your tongue at her as Kenneth threw a popcorn towards you and asked you two to keep quiet.
And in the meantime, I took a huge bite of your chocolate glazed donut.
Heaven is in desserts.
"She ate your donut!" Deeley gasped and I grinned at you.
You shook your head, laughed at me and fed me the rest of your donut.
Ally leaned in and whispered something into Deeley's ears but I caught only three words - are not Elaine.
I smiled as you slipped your hand in mine and held my hand all throughout the rest of the movie.
Edwin whispered to me,"Watch the movie now Elaine, stare at Kay later."
I blushed furiously and cleared my throat, staring at the screen. From the side of my eye, I caught you glancing at me too.
"Are you crying?" You whispered into my ear as I sniffled, munching on a macaroon.
"No, my eyes are just about to sweat."
"It is okay, I cried too when Will left Stella."
"Shh. Watch this scene, it's beautiful."
"You're beautiful too."
Deeley, who was clearly eavesdropping on our conversation cleared her throat loudly and gave you a knowing smile. You ran a hand through your hair and shook your head, but clutched my hand a little tighter under the blanket.
After the movie was finished and you & Kenneth went outside to have a smoke and Edwin took a call, Ally & Deeley scooted closer to me.
"So, what's up between you and Kay?" Deeley asked, her face practically glowing.
"Yes, he is practically radiant these days when he talks about you." Ally hums, tossing her golden curls over her shoulder.
"We are just friends.." I blushed and spoke up, my eyes searching for any left over snack.
"If you two don't date in the near future, I am going to lose my faith in love." Edwin whispered from behind, almost giving me a mini heart attack.
"I-"
"And now if you all will excuse me, I would like to steal my girl back. It's time to drop her back home." Kay cut in and it took me quite some moments before I realised that his "my girl" was directed towards me.
I was quick to bid my goodbyes and followed Kay into his car. I was still thinking about his comment when he broke the silence.
"You know, you scare me."
I was snapped out of my thoughts at once.
"Scare you? No way, I am ten inches shorter than you, Kay."
He let out a small laugh as he took the turn towards my house.
"It scares me how fast I opened up to you. I don't open up to people this fast, you know. It took me four years to be close to Deeley, and she is the one I am closest to in the group."
"Well, isn't that good? You're starting to trust people. It is a good sign."
He stopped the car in front of my house and let out a small sigh.
"Maybe. But I think it's because of you that I am opening up to you so fast. Not because of my improved trust issues. There is something about you, and I hope you know that you're amazing."
I looked down at Kay's hand resting over mine and nodded slightly.
"Thank you, you aren't half bad yourself."
"And yeah, I got you something." Kay spoke up, leaning back and picking up a small package from the backseat.
"Yeah?"
"Yeah, here. This is the paperback version of Five Feet Apart. I figured that you wouldn't be satisfied by only watching the movie and that's why I got the book for you."
"This is too much, Kay. I can't accept this. You know I can't just take thing-"
"Shh, this is a gift for being such an amazing person. And also I might have forgotten to tell you but you're coming over to my house tomorrow to take care of Elle and Mila. Parents are going out and I am getting McDonald's. Would appreciate your company," You rambled on as I shut the car door.
"Yes, I will be there tomorrow. Elle loves me."
"Of course, she loves you. You meow back at her."
"Great mind things, baby. You wouldn't understand," I laughed, leaning at your window.
You let out a small dreamy sigh and whispered,"I know it, my little weirdo."
