Cassandra sat in her empty compartment. She was looking out the window, at the parents hugging and kissing their children 'goodbye'. Cassandra wished she could have hugged her mother one last time before the train left. Suddenly someone open the sliding door of the train, "Is this compartment taken?", a with black hair stood at the door and behind him was a boy who had silver hair. The boy with the black hair had asked the question.
"Uh..no?!" Cassandra replied a little nervous at the sudden interruption. "Mind if we sit here? All the other compartments are full." He said and sat down before she could accept but she nodded her head in reply nevertheless.
As they settled down the boy with the silver hair who was now sitting beside her asked, "Are you new? I have never see you at Hogwarts?"
The boy sitting across Cassandra countered,"Scorpious, does Hogwarts take tranfer students? I don't think so." The silver-haired boy whose name as she could obviously tell was Scorpious said, "Yeah, right!" It was then that Cassandra finally spoke up, "I am new here. I recieved my letter just months ago." She could tell that the two boys did not seem to believe her. "Sorry, if I sound rude but you look a bit too old to be a first-year" Scorpious said nervously as if afraid Cassandra would take offense to being called 'too old'.
Cassandra chuckled, "No, well you are right I am a bit too old for a first year. I am in the sixth year actually." Beforr she could finish Scorpious interjected, "but as Albus said Hogwarts doesn't take transfer student and I don't quite remember any wizaring school do that either." He held his hand close to his chin as if trying to recall some information deep down his memory lane.
"I am not a transfer student. I literally got accepted into Hogwarts in March. I had to come up to Hogwarts earlier than others in order to catch up with the other sixth year students." as soon as Cassandra finished saying the two boy looked at her as if she was joking. They seem to think she was mad.
"WHAT?!" shrieked Scorpious as passerby's looked into their compartment through the glass window wondering the source of the commotion. Scorpious gave an awkward smile to the fellow students who were walking by giving strange looks at them. He again turned back to look at Caasandra "What do you mean catch up?" whispered Scorpious. "Meaning I had to keep learning while you all wrote your end-of-term exams and went off for you summer vacation. I stayed back for studying under the guidance of the Headmistress." She replied impatiently.
Scorpious' eye widened at this new information, the boy sitting across finally spoke up, "I didn't know people could do that?"
Cassandra was a little offened, she took pride in her intellectual prowess and said haughtily, "Well I guess I can." The boys still did not seem to believe her at all. Sensing the tension building up in the room Scorpious suddenly said again a little too loud, "I am Scorpious, Scorpious Malfoy." And held out his hand. Cassandra shook it and gave a bright smile, "I am Cassandra White. Nice to meet you Scorpious." She said. She liked Scorpious. The boy sitting across said ever so reluctantly, "I am Albus Potter." He did not hold out his hand and instead was already looking outside his window disinterested.
The train started with a jerk and started gaining momentum quickly. She wondered how long it would take by train to reach there. Her thoughts were interrupted was a lady pushing a trolley, "Anything from the trolley dears?" She asked ever so sweetly but to Cassandra's utter bewilderment both Scorpious and Albus behaved odd, they looked scared almost. "Yes, please!" She said. "What would you like dear? Pumpkin pasties, cauldron cake, butterbeer?" Cassandra thought for a moment and said, "Three cauldorn cakes and pumpkin pasties." The trolley witch gave her the cauldron cakes and pumpkin pasties and chimed, "That will be twelve Scikles and three knuts." Cassandra had quickly learned about wizarding money and handed her the sum. The trolley witch moved on. She handed both Scorpious and Albus a cauldron cake and pumpkin pasties each and said, "Here a treat from me. This is for actually bothering to come and sit with a loner like me." She joked. Scorpious and Albus reluctantly took the cakes and pasties not wanting to hurt Cassandra's feelings. They both looked down at the cake in their hands with horrid expression, they then looked up at each other both knowing what the other was thinking." Cassandra noticed this odd exchange of looks ans asked, "Is everything okay? If you guys don't like it I can get you something else. I bet the trolley witch has not gone too far." She stood up to look for the trolley witch when both the boys yelled in unison, "NO!!!" Cassandra was shocked at their odd behaviour and sat down. She wondered what happened to them all pf a sudden. "I-its nothing. W- we like these cakes and pasties." stammered Scorpious and gulped loudly and Albus nodded his head. Cassandra was a little worried the two boys were visibly sweating and their hands were almost trembling. They set the cakes beside them. Scorpious then tried to stir the conversation by saying, "Which house are you in? Have you neen sorted yet? Or are you gonna be sorted with the first-years?" He asked eagerly his voice suddenly curious and he was no longer stammering.
"Uh, no I have been sorted already. The sorting hat put me in Gryffindor." She said and Albus let out and audile scowl. "Do you not like Gryffindor?" She asked.
Albus said, "Well they are clearly loud and boisterous I hate Gryffindor." Cassandra obviously thought he was joking, she chuckled and said, "Rude, Potter."
Albus rolled his eyes and Cassandra asked, "Which house are the two of you in?" Scorpious chimed in saying, "Slytherin!" and handing a box of chocolate frog to Cassandra and Albus. "Oh! I hope that doesn't prevent you from talking to me, me being a Gryffindor" said Cassandra as she accepted the chocolate frog. This took Albus and Scorpious by surprise they probably did not expect that any Gryffindor would wish to be friends with a Slytherin. "Uh..." trailed of Scorpious clearly fretting what to say. "No." said Albus suddenly and Scorpious looked at him, bewildered.
"Oh good! All this Slytherin and Gryffindor fiasco is stupid if you ask me." She stated casually. Albus gave a faint smile and Scorpious was still too confused to utter a word. "Okay..." Scorpious finally managed to say.
"We are in the sixth year too." added Albus.
It was then that someone suddenly opened the slide door loudly, a girl with red hair and freckles stood there. "Hello! I am Rose Granger-Weasley. I supposed you are Cassandra White" she said in a bossy voice. "Uh, Hi Rose. Should I be knowing you?" Cassandra asked a little awkwardly.
"Of course not! But I do. My mum told me about you. She is the Minister of Magic you see. She told me about your and your special arrangements. I hoped to meet you as soon as I could but seems like Albus here beat me to it!" Rose said all this a little too fast.
"I was not even trying." mocked Albus, but Rose ignored the comment. "I am pleased to know that you are in Gryffindor. I was worried you'd be in Slytherin considering the Sorting Hat had an oddly long Hat Stall."
"Hat stall?" asked Scorpious.
