My Rating: 6.5/10

Ah, back to a favourite of mine ... But something seems a bit different, oh look, new textures and models, updated graphics ... And same buggy mess of a game ... Whelp, it's only a definitive edition.

So basically with this one, the rating is lower than the original for a few reasons, firstly, though i've not yet completed the game as I'm slowly playing it through with a friend, I've died three seperate times to insta-kills, twice from being trapped behind doors from them opening the wrong way and trapping me against the wall, then insta-killing me for it, something the original didn't do, the other time it did it was in the city, I jumped onto a chair unintentionally, one that has a corpse on it, if you've played the game you may know the one I'm on about, but alas, I randomly landed on said chair and the game just says fuck you to me and insta-kills me once again.

Now, other issues are that despite them adding a shit ton of irritating invisible barriers, I've still gotten trapped in areas I can't escape from several times to this point, something that I assume those barriers are intended to negate, yet instead those barriers simply make traversing the landscape more irritating, especially in a game that is partly focused on exploration to find secrets and loot.

For the third issue I have, the controls feel more janky than the original, often refusing to do what you tell it to do, I've taken a few deaths just from the controls walking forwards or to the side when I tell it to back away, the strafe jump no longer works either, or at least not effectively, it's barely a strafe anymore, feeling like it moves you less than simply walking to the side does, making Rams harder to fight as strafing is the best way to fight them allowing you to get behind at their weak spot easily.

So to wrap this one up, the one other thing that irritates me from this is that some of the secret dev weapons have been altered, for exaple, the weapon that's simply your hands but used to launch enemies to the ground with electricity, including thugs, has now been nerfed so that it doesn't affect thugs anymore, making it basically useless as it drains all your stamina, it's better to simply get the home run bat now instead, it has basically the same effect and doesn't cost as much stamina (I think it has more durability too meaning less repair costs)

I'd still say this game is worth playing, it plays well to the original with just a few alterations that aren't so good, I'd still say the originals review stands similiar to this though, I merely pointed out the negatives.
