Chapter 6: Training Together
Brooklyn walked behind two Agents who had told her they were sent to bring her to go meet Natasha and the other man in some sort of training facility.

She didn't know what most of those words meant, but she had nodded, and the three walked in silence, Brooklyn not knowing them to talk. Plus, she wasn't sure what any conversation they would have would be about, because she didn't think they liked colouring in.

She didn't mind the quiet, she rather liked being inside her head, narrating to herself and playing pretend. She imagined she was walking along a deep and narrow cave, waiting to find the bear at the end that she could give a honey sandwiches to like in the bright picture books she was given to look at. She couldn't read, maybe a three letter word or two, but she would love the bright colours and different lines that formed new characters for her to play with.

She tried to stay inside her own lines when she coloured, just like the picture books, but the crayons seemed to enjoy crossing over. She let them, not really minding when they swirled and scratched at the otherwise blank page. She found it fun when they crossed over, and was especially excited when two crayons mixed lines, making a different, darker colour all together.

She was so caught up in letting the bear cubs lick the rest of the honey from her hands that she didn't realise that they had arrived, walking into the back of one of the grown-up's legs.

She looked up, confused for a second, but then she saw Natasha talking to the other man and looked up at the Agent she had bumped into, asking for permission to go to them. The Agent nodded, tilting his head towards them.

Brooklyn walked through the doors, and the floor under her slippers grew soft. She took them off, bouncing slightly at the soft padding. Bending down, she poked it, watching it slowly rise back. She did it again, giggling as she imagined a little fish inflating.

She was so engrossed in the small entertainment she found from the foam padding of the training area that she was slightly startled when a shadow loomed over her, making her look up. She saw a little boy, fiery ginger hair and curious green eyes, arms crossed over his chest.

"Who are you?" He asked. Brooklyn sat down properly from where she was crouching, crossing her legs.

"Me Brooklyn." She said, smiling as she waved.

The Boy scrunched his nose.

"You're a girl." He stated, looking down at her still. Brooklyn looked confused.

"Yes?" She asked more than stated.

"I'm a boy." He said as if he expected her to understand his point. She didn't. She continued to look up awkwardly, unsure of what to say.

"I don't want to play girl games." He said. Brooklyn didn't know what he meant, so she shrugged, not bothered. She didn't know any 'girl games' anyways.

"Me too." Brooklyn confidently agreed, trying to scrunch her face like he did.

The Boy looked surprised, as if expecting some resistance to his demands, but when she accepted a huge smiled bloomed over his face, showing his gap tooth. Brooklyn smiled back, copying him before she continued to prod the floor, inflating her cheeks as if she was being prodded herself, but she almost fell flat on her face when it felt like her arm was being pulled out of its socket, looking up to see the Boy holding on tightly to her hand.
