It was Sally's ninth birthday the next day and Brad rushed upstairs and came into sally's room to wake her up he  came in and sat on the edge of her bed and asked what she wanted  for her birthday she looked up at Brad with the widest eyes " i would like my own horse" Sally smiled

Brad patted his daughters shoulder  and smiled " we'll try" Brad said to Sally with his head tilted to the side.

Brad got up from her bed and walked out the door and into his bedroom were Mary was getting ready to start the day John walked in  and shurged his shoulders " she wants a horse of her own but we can't afford it" said Brad as he held his head in his hands.

Mary looked up at him and put her hands on her hips and looked at Brad " i don't want to upset her you WILL buy her a horse" she shouted as she came close to Brad.

Mary huffed out the door and Brad rushed downstairs and went to the kitchen he reached into a cupboard and opened it up and pulled out a wad of money this was his savings for Sally's future but he'd use it to make Sally happy.

Brad went to the door and put on his coat and opened the door and went to the car.
He started the car and drove to the first place he could think of that would give him a horse maybe even for free, the race track they used to race in.

Brad drove off to the race track it was close by nearby a betting shop.

Brad parked his car outside the betting shop and walked to the racetrack. Brad walked in and asked the receptionist to see the managers  and the woman at the desk got on the phone and called him. Brad only had to wait for two minutes before the manager came down the stairs but that two minutes felt like a long time for Brad.

There he glanced up and saw Damian on the stairs he had aged so much since he last saw him Damian gave Brad a big hug and Brad explained his situation. " my daughter wants a horse for her birthday have you got any?" asked Brad with excitement.

The manager tapped Brads Shoulder " lets go see if we have one in the stable i'll give it to you for free" they both walked side by side to the stable but sadly enough the stable was empty. " im sorry old buddy no horses here we sold them all back in the day i just didn't know if we had any or not" said Damian brushing his hair back in disappointment.

Brad walked out the building to his car just as Brad turned to leave Damian explained there is a race for platinum trophy in a few months that his daughter sally  might be able to take part in. " i'll let her know she'll be excited to know that" said Brad as he looked at Damian as he slowly walked away.

Brad got bad in the car and drove into the deep countryside to look for a nearby farm it was mid afternoon and brad thought maybe his family will be worried about him and were he'd been.

On a long drive he saw the sign for a farm called Cowbell farm, Brad drove into the gates and pulled up at the barn.

A farmer pulled up wearing muddy boots and a flat cap came to him " you need help?" The farmer asked  " i need a horse for my daughters birthday" the two walked to the farmers stable and luckily there were horses stationed there Brad spotted this black stallion and pointed at it knowing straight away his daughter will like it " i'll take this one" said brad pointing  at the tall black horse " sir these horses are mine i'm not selling them" said the farmer  looking at Brad.

Brad was desperate he didn't want to fail his daughter and disappoint her Brad reached for his wallet and pulled out a wad of cash with a rubber band around it and handed it to the farmer and pulled a sad face " awh ok you can have her" said the farmer taking the money.

" thank you" Brad excitedly hugged the farmer as he jumped up and down with joy. " do you need a container to tow the horse back home?" Said the farmer looking at Brad " yes " said Brad looking at the farmer.

The farmer got a container and hooked it up to Brads car, the farmer lead the horse by it's saddle and put it in the container and shut door so the horse couldn't get out.

Before Brad got back into his car he thanked the farmer once again and hugged him, he got back in his car and drove back home it was now six in the morning on the road.

Finally Brad pulled up at his house and got out his car and  lowered the container door and let the horse out, he grabbed it by the saddle and led it indoors  everybody was asleep and the knocking of the horses hooves on the wood floor nearly woke everybody up and  Brad hushed the horse and led it to the back garden.

Brad shut the patio doors and ran upstairs to his bedroom his wife looked at him startled as he entered " so it was you that was knocking around what are you doing your going to wake everybody up" whispered  Mary in a worryingly  as she got out of bed. " i brought a horse like you said" Brad smiled Mary jumped out of bed happily and hugged Brad.

Brad got in bed with Mary and went back to sleep with a smile on his face knowing he made his daughter and wife proud.

The next day was Sally's birthday and Mary nudged Brad to signal to go and wake up Sally, Brad got up and went to her room " honey i have a surprise for you " Brad said happily Sally's eyes lit up and quickly got out of bed excitedly

Brad led sally downstairs and beyond the porch door Sally's eyes lit up and smiled, Brad opened the patio doors and Sally walked carefully and slowly up to the black stallion  and patted it's fur slowly with a smile.

Brad looked at Sally " what would you like to name it?" He asked Sally looked up at Brad and said that she wants to name it Thunderbolt a mix of Brad and Mary's horses names.

Brads heart melted Brad and Sally were so happy she had fulfilled her desire and achieved her dream  of getting a horse. Mary was proud of Brad for going out of his way to get what their daughter wanted.

It was the best birthday ever.
