Chapter5: a sad day at school

Sally ran downstairs in sadness with tears in her eyes she saw Thunderbolt laying on the ground near the gate still and lifeless.
Mary ran to the storage room were the horse health equipment was and pulled out a stethoscope and put in her ears and  Brad opened the Patio door Mary knelt down and put the stethoscope up to Thunderbolt's Fur and she could feel Thunderbolt trying to breathe in pain.

A tear ran down Sally's face. She couldn't stand to see Thunderbolt in pain. Sally ran outside towards Thunderbolt and knelt down by Thunderbolt's body, her face was wet from the tears running down her face she ran her hand across Thunderbolts fur she could feel Thunderbolt struggling to breathe.

She looked up at Mary " what happened?" She asked teary eyed Brad turned on his laptop and  turned on the security camera to check what had happened and he rewound the footage to later on in the evening.

The image on the camera showed that the gate was not shut properly and Thunderbolt busted out of the gates and into the field the next part of the footage showed a pack of wolves from the forest out number Thunderbolt, They overwhelmed him and bit and clawed at him till he collapsed onto the floor.

It was a horrifying site to see and he didn't want Sally to see because it would upset her more he looked down at Sally " a pack of wolves attacked him" he frowned.

Sally cried and more tears ran down her face Mary put the stethoscope she was wearing round her neck round Sally and put the buds in her eyes so she could hear Thunderbolts heartbeat.

Sally pressed the stethoscope against Thunderbolt's fur and she could hear the heartbeat get slower and slower, finally the sound of the heart beat stopped and Sally cried louder she really loved Thunderbolt she buried her head in his fur and kissed him.

She held Thunderbolt in her arms and hugged his cold lifeless body tight  Sally was devastated.

Sally rushed upstairs in tears and ran to her room and shut the door. She pulled out her ipad and went on the internet, she searched " how to save a horse from wolf bites" there were no results and nothing had come up she was disappointed  she was lost and defeated.

Brad knocked on her door and said she'll be late for school she didn't really want to go because all she'd think about was Thunderbolt but Brad suggested school will take her mind off of things.

Sally unlocked the door ran downstairs grabbed her bag and followed Brad to the car they both got in the car and drove to the school.

The school was only down the road from their house so it was only a short drive, Sally got out of the car and Brad waved goodbye and said she'll pick her up later.

Sally's friend Missy greeted her by the door " how are you?" Missy asked Sally frowned " my horse died and i was gonna enter the championship with him I'm gonna skip class and go to the library to find a book on how to bring him back" said Sally frowning Missy looked at Sally like she was crazy " you can't bring back something once it's dead you might have to get another horse" said Missy nudging Sally.

Sally walked in the direction of the library and turned round to Missy " well if you don't believe me  then you are not my friend"  Sally said as she rushed off.

She entered the library and walked up to the woman at the reception desk she was old and wrinkly and had glasses " do you have any books on horse health?"

The woman pointed at the animal health section Sally thanked the woman and went to the aisle were the book was she found the book it was thick and blue with gold writing it had lots of pages, she sat on the nearest table and opened the book.

Sally flickered through the pages there was no good information she closed the book in deafeat   and  went back to the aisle to browse.

There was a big black book in the back on the shelf near the window it was dusty and Sally pulled it out and wiped the dust off with her sleeve.

She went to the table with the book and opened it up it was a history book and the pages were old and crumpled who knows how long it'd been there for.

Sally read through and the pages read that long ago there was a group of wizards and witches that used a spell  from a spell book to keep their horses alive in battle this made Sally happy this is what Sally needed she needed to find that spell-book.

She stuffed the old history book in her book bag and ran to the history classroom, Sally knocked on the door of the classroom, the teacher Mr Bentley was teaching a class he halted the class and opened the door to see Sally he grinned at her " you came at the wrong time i was teaching" grinned Mr Bentley with his hands on his hips.

Sally looked up at Mr Bentley " sorry sir i need your help with something" said Sally pulling out this big history book she turned to the page about the wizards and spell book " is it true?" asked Sally

Mr Bentley held his glasses and thought " ahh yes their very hideout were they used to conduct the reviving spells and the spell book is said to recide in a crypt  underneath the school but nobody knows were" said Mr Bentley

Sally perked up with excitement she must find were the wizard hideout is so she can  find the spell book and save Thunderbolt

Just as Mr Bentley went back in to resume the lesson  the bell rang for lunch time. Sally went to the common room were some of the students were chilling doing their thing.

One group of kids were playing Dungeons and dragons and wearing costumes for their roles they wore robes and wizard hats.

Just as Sally approached the group the dungeon master Carl turned round and saw Sally he wore glasses and a green jumper underneath his red and black robes " we've been expecting you, we hear you seek our wisdom" Carl smiled and the rest of his freinds saluted.

Sally perked up  and pulled out the history book from her bag once again and pointed at the page with the mages on it" i want to find this spell book to revive my horse do you know were the hideout is?" Sally asked looking at Carl

Carl put his hands together and him and his group of friends studied the hideout for the entire two years they were in school and they had recently found out were the entrance was

Sally was so excited Carl and his friends laid out a map  of the school on the table  and Carl grabbed  a stick and twirled it around the map of the school.

He finally closed his eyes and the stick landed on an area of the school that was outside  in the schoolyard   The door to the entrance was deep in the Janitors storage shed.

Sally smiled and hugged Carl and gave a quick Salute to his friends " thank you so much said Sally jumping up and down. Carl bowed " good luck on your quest" he said and Sally thanked him and ran off to find her friend Missy.

The bell went off and everybody rushed off to afternoon lesson even Carl and his freinds had to stop their game and take off their robes and go back to lesson.

Sally caught Missy about to walk up the school stairs quickly she wanted to avoid Sally because she might be rude to her again Sally tapped Missy's shoulder and she turned around and looked at her " im sorry for being rude to you earlier" smiled Sally Missy easily forgave Sally she wasn't a person to hold grudges.

Sally got out the history book and showed Missy all about the mages hideout and the spell book Missy's eyes widened and she finally believed everything Sally was talking about and got all excited.

Sally explained they'll need to sneak to the janitors room and try not to get caught by the teachers.

Sally asked Missy if she was ready for an adventure Missy looked at Sally and excitedly shook her head.
This was it they were about to go on a quest.
