Leaving Ross behind, I walked up the front porch steps. I was thinking of ways to get Conner off my back tonight when it hit me. We're at a party. A high school party. Obviously there's going to be alcohol and I can get Conner drunk enough to the point where he won't know if I'm with him or not. It's the last thing I can think of so I'm just going to have to wing it.

"Hey Laura! You look good tonight!" I look to my left and see a kid from my gym class. I think his name is Craig. I've never really talked to him before. Maybe a quick smile but never a conversation.

"Thanks!" I smile and start to push open the door when he signals for me to go over. Biting back a groan I look at the door and then to him and make my way over quickly. What could he possible want from me?

I smile at the two other guys who he was with, I'm pretty sure there names are Kyle and Theo. These kids are more of the druggie popular kids who don't play sports but know how to party and throw good ones. I usually don't go to theirs because they mostly end up with the cops showing up. They get their popularity for being known as having the best parties, which I kind of find stupid.

"Why don't you hang out with us for a bit? We barely talk anymore." Craig smirks his eyes traveling to my legs. I forgot to mention that Craig is a manwhore and I'm starting to get creeped out with the looks that he's giving me.

I shake my head. "I'm sorry but I have Hailey inside waiting for me and everyone knows how she gets when people keep her waiting." I laugh a little nervously. I take a step back as Craig raises from his seat, coming closer to me.

He shrugs smiling at me and then I realize his eyes are bloodshot and he has a goofy grin on. He's stoned. "Ten minutes. Fifteen minutes tops." He reaches behind him on the little side table and picks up a joint that I failed to notice. "Smoke this with us and then you can go Hailey. Have you ever been high before?"

Yes, I thought to myself. I tried weed before with Hailey and it was okay but I never really got into it. And I'm certainly not going to do it with a bunch guys who are high either. I know that be a stupid idea.

I shake my head and start going back towards the door. "Nah, I'm not up for it. But you guys have fun and I'll see you later?" I asked it more of a question then a statement this way Craig didn't get any idea into his head that I want to see him.

Craig frowns at me. "Not cool Laura. I thought we were friends." I blink, surprised. I never would've had a problem being his friend but he's never talked to me before tonight and now he's pressuring me into smoking and getting upset when I decline.

I give him a sympathetic look before turning my back and walking to the door. Why do all the guys I talk to, end up having some sort of problem? A hand grabs my wrist stopping me and I look behind to see Craig holding onto me.

"You don't have to leave. Just hang out with us. We don't bite." The look in his eyes said otherwise.

I open my mouth to say something but am cut off.

"Craig let her go, I'll smoke with you." I swing my head around to face Ross and my mouth drops open.

The weight on my wrist is gone and Craig walks around me to stand in front of Ross. They do the man handshake thing and Craig hands Ross the joint. I stand there gaping as Ross sends me a 'you're-an-idiot' look making sure only I see it.

"See ya Laura!" Craig said dismissively waving his hand and plopping down onto his seat like he didn't have a care in the world.

"Yeah, bye Laura!" Ross says but his words have a meaning like, 'get-out-of-here-before I-drag-you-out-of-here'
