Selena's POV

After an amazing week on the beach with my three best friends it was time to do what we love the most, race. Auto club has always been a bad track for me, so I will be starting 20th, chase will start 7th, Hailie will start 21st, and Ryan will start 4th. Me and chase did not stand next to each other for pre race ceremonies because I'm starting way further back than he is. As I'm talking to my mom I get a text.

Chase💗 : I love you babygirl I hope you can move further to the front today and battle for the win, stay safe and I'll see you after the race xo 😘.

Me: I love you too babe, good luck today go kick some ass, stay safe I'll see you after the race xo 😘.

I start smiling at how generous and cute that text was.

Pre race ceremonies start, after they are over I give my mom a hug and she goes and sits in my pit box.

"Drivers start your engines"

"Fire that thing up" my crew chief joe says.

"Pace car is rolling off" my spotter Adam says

We do a couple pace laps then the race begins. My car feels so shitty already.

*this is going to be a long race* I think to myself.

We are now in the final stage of the race and I have run in the top 10 once today and that was because of green flag pit stops. My car just hasn't been good today so honestly I'm just in it for the ride. We got 10 laps to go and I am currently in 15th I'm not completely sure where chase or Ryan is but Hailie has been next to me all day I'm assuming she is having the same issues with her car. The car is fast but it's either too tight, or too loose, never perfect.

The race finally finishes I was happy about that but not happy about how my car handled today. I start walking into the infield so I can shower, leave the track, get on a plane and fly back to North Carolina so I can start moving a few of my things from mine and hailies house to chases house. As I'm walking I feel strong arms wrap around my waist, I already knew it was chase.

"Good job today" he says kissing me on the cheek.

"Don't lie, I did awful"

"You did your best, have it your 100%, and that's all you can do, don't let something like this fuck up your day I know it's upsetting cause you didn't run like how you wanted but there will be more, better races, and on the bright side we only race at this track once a year" he says smiling at me.

"Thank you chase you always know the perfect thing to say after a shitty race" I say standing on my tippy toes giving him a kiss.

"That's my job as your boyfriend is to cheer you up"

"Well I'm gonna go shower cause I gotta get on my plane and go to North Carolina"

"Why are you going back to North Carolina?"

"I want to move some of my things into your house so this week would be a good time to do that"

"Okay darlin I'll see you next weekend, here's a key to my house I had it made for you so you have your own key"

"Okay babe have fun with Ryan this week, but not too much fun" I say smiling.

"Not just Ryan but bubba"

"Oh lord help us all" I say laughing

"Okay babe I love you text me when you land" he says giving me one last kiss.

"I will I love you too" I say walking away.
