As ayah was laying on the bed her phone pinged with a message. She looked at the phone. The moment her eyes landed on the unknown number that messaged her she knew who it was. It was shayan who had messaged. She grinned widely and read the message.
Missing you so badly. Will be there in 30. :)
Her heart warmed at the thought that he missed her. It was only a few hours now and he already missed her. It wasn't like ayah didnt miss him. She did. Maybe more. Before replying to him she saved his number. She saved his number as jaan. Her childhood dream to call her husband jaan finally came true.
Me: Okay :)
Jaan: no miss me?She laughed at the message. She did miss him but she was not going to admit. Smiling to herself she replied,
Waiting for you...
Indirectly she had given him a hint that she missed him. She was indeed waiting for him. It was 6 in the evening. She remembered how eram didn't leave a single chance to tease her whole day. She remembered the wise advices her aunt has given her. She stored these memories. She was packing the other necessities things she had forgotten.
Ma and eram had forced ayah to stay for dinner but she was afraid to agree without asking shayan and her in-laws . And she didnt have enough courage to ask them. Eram had volunteered to ask their permission. Before calling shayan she had called katheejah but she denied saying that they are expecting some guests who were specially coming to meet ayah as they couldnt attend the wedding. With a heavy heart she had to agree to her mother-in-law. She couldnt argue with her the very next day of her wedding.
She sighed for the nth time. No matter how good shayan treated ayah, she still repulsed the idea of leaving her family behind. The happiness she felt here couldnt be compared to any. Not yet. A lone tear escaped her eyes. Which she wiped it quickly.
There was a knock on the door. Without even waiting for me to say come in umar came in. I huffed at him and turned my face away. She told him to come home early as she wanted to spend some time with him but he came so late. Shayan would be here any minute now.
"Oh come on, Im sorry." He exclaimed popping on the bed next to her. She didnt want to waste the time she had with him so she gave in. "Its okay." He grinned widely, showing his perfect rows of white teeth. She shook her head at his antics.
"So how is marriage so far?"
"Not bad."
"Is shayan treating you well?"
"Until now yes"
"How is his parents?"
"Good but I haven't interacted with them much."
"Are you happy?"
The last question caught her off guard. How can she say just yet whether she was happy or not. She most definitely was not sad. She had an okay type of feeling. The honking sound saved her from answering the most complicated question she still didnt know the current meaning of.
The tires screeching sound announced the arrival of shayan. Having known her son-in-law was here ayesha went to open the door.
Shayan smiled widely looking at his mother-in-law or something close to that. "Come come beta" ayesha ushered him in. Upon entering his eyes searched for the familiar face who was in the room, trying to calm him vigorously beating heart. She was alone in the room. Umar had left the room to greet shayan. She was glad shayan was here. But she was nervous that he was here. Umar came forward and shaked his hand with shayan and manly hug.
Bottling her weird feelings and putting it into the back of her mind she got out of the room to meet her husband who had come to take her to his house. Our house.
