Flashback

"Who are you?" (Y/n) asked before sipping her tea. She sat her back straight and her eyes peering into Ciel's. The Queen had arranged a date or them to get acquainted with each other seeing as they were now engaged.

"Ciel Phantomhive," Ciel responded simply before looking down at his cup of tea. He could not believe this was happening, after so much hard work on his end he had managed to convince the Queen of granting them this marriage. "Sebastian bring us two slices of cake,"

(Y/n) nodded as she looked down at her cup, this was not how she was expecting to get rewarded for her hard work. An unwanted marriage with a cold and commanding man. She supposed Ciel looked decent, but looks weren't as important as his personality. Sebastian, Ciel's handsome butler, placed the plates on the table.

"Then Ciel, what do you think about this marriage?" (Y/n) asked looking up from her cup of tea and into Ciel's eyes, or well eye. She wanted to see if he was telling the truth or not, if he didn't like this marriage she would head to the Queen in an instant.

"I personally don't care for it," Ciel said coldly, instantly regretting his words. He didn't mean to sound that way but Sebastian had advised him to not show how excited he was on the first meeting. (Y/n) hummed as she cut a piece of cake and ate it, of course, the rumors were true. She was a fool to expect anything other than that.

The rest of the so-called 'date' went on blandly and awkwardly as they roamed around window shopping. (Y/n) had long lost interest in this date, remaining silent only providing short answers to the questions Ciel asked.

Flashback End

"(Y/n) you can't leave me yet. I won't let you," Ciel cried as he held (Y/n)'s hand in his. This was all his fault, if he had been kinder, if he had not been so cold, she wouldn't be in this situation, she wouldn't feel this was her only choice.

(Y/n) opened her eyes slowly before closing them back again, the room was incredibly bright. She groaned feeling a sharp pain in her stomach. "Master Lady (Y/n) is awake!" Sebastian called out loudly causing Sebastian to look up.

(Y/n) attempted to open her eyes again, turning her head she was met with Ciel's tear stained face. "Who died?" she asked, her voice raspy. She simply couldn't fathom why Ciel would be crying, it was beyond his character.

Sebastian chuckled, "Lady (Y/n) seems to be alright young master"

"You're such an idiot (Y/n)" Ciel scolded as he held her hand tightly, "Taking your life is not the answer,"

"I've been told that very often I wonder by who?" (Y/n) asked, looking at Ciel who sighed.

It was clear (Y/n) was alright from her petty and sarcastic remarks. "I know (Y/n) and....I'm sorry," Ciel finally said bowing his head down in shame. It was not easy for Ciel to apologize but it was something he needed to do. "I'm sorry for everything (Y/n)"

"You? The Ciel Phantomhive apologizing? Is the world ending?" (Y/n) asked sarcastically, raising an eyebrow. Ciel looked at her surprised, his cheeks red in embarrassment; she grinned at him playfully. "I'm sorry too Ciel I know I'm not an easy person to deal with," (Y/n) apologized.

"I'm so sorry (Y/n), I'm so sorry," Ciel apologized continuously while holding (Y/n)'s hand tightly.

TIMESKIP

(Y/n) was finally being discharged from the hospital today. She was currently changing out of the patient's robe the nurses had given her and into a dress. She was struggling a little bit as her movements were restricted by the bandages. While she was being discharged, that didn't mean she was completely better.

"Lady (Y/n) if you require help please ask for assistance," Sebastian said from behind her. He helped her put on her dress and adjusted it.

She crossed her arms stubbornly, "I did not require help Sebastian, I could do it myself," She mumbled as she flattened out her dress, "But thank you anyways,"

"It is my pleasure Lady (Y/n). Just remember you are to be careful in these next couple of weeks," Sebastian said as he led her out of the room carrying her items out of the room behind her.

The last couple of weeks were spent rather restlessly. Ciel in many attempts to entertain the girl had brought many things over. Everything from books to his chess board and other games, but it was no use (Y/n) wanted to go outside. Both the doctor and Ciel both eventually relented and allowed her a visit outside on a wheelchair. They roamed around the city together stopping by many shops and cafes, (Y/n) just staring at the food not being able to eat anything as she healed.

Ciel was currently away on important business so it was up to Sebastian to bring her home. (Y/n) waved goodbye to the doctors and nurses she had grown to know in the last couple of weeks as she exited the hospital. The air outside was cold and crisp, a signal that winter would be coming soon.

"Sebastian, when will Ciel be coming back?" (Y/n) asked as she walked towards the carriage, putting up a hand to signal to Sebastian she could do it herself. Many noble ladies would envied her posture and poise despite her injuries.

"I reckon very soon Lady (Y/n)" Sebastian said before raising an eyebrow at the girl, "Why do you ask?"

"I lost the last game, we need to hold a rematch," (Y/n) said simply as she looked out the window of the carriage. The carriage started and she watched as the scenery outside moved. Outside were plenty of shops with couples and families walking together, shopping for Christmas. (Y/n) sighed, although she had been released from the hospital she was to continue resting inside, back to square one.

"We're here Lady (Y/n)," Sebastian said, opening the door and offering a hand to help her out. She shook her head and got out herself walking down the steps carefully.

Looking up she was met with the familiar faces of the servants. They were all giggling and whispering between each other. "What's the occasion?" (Y/n) asked them, raising a questioning eyebrow.

"Well-" Mey-Rin started before she was quickly shut up by Bard.

(Y/n) looked at them suspiciously wondering why they were so giddy. A cold breeze came in causing (Y/n) to shiver from her lack of a coat. "Lady (Y/n) let's head inside it quite cold and there's no reason to question these idiots," Sebastian said, ushering (Y/n) inside.

(Y/n) turned to Sebastian who only smiled, they were all acting so suspiciously. "Alright, Sebastian," (Y/n) said simply as she pushed the door open and walked inside.

Inside the Phantomhive Manor was beautifully decorated with all kinds of things. There sat a banner on the balcony that read, 'Happy Birthday (Y/n)'. Streamers were hung all over the place and several people stood in the lobby all mingling.

Ciel stepped out from the sea of people, he was wearing formal clothing, a dark blue suit that fitted him perfectly. "Happy birthday (Y/n)," He said, holding out a hand, a soft smile on his face.
