Chapter thirty six - Scent

Inosuke was able to throw you in the air, you screeched as you started falling back down. You held onto the mask for dear life.

He caught you bridal style with a smirk on his face as he snickered. You decided it was a great time to just- collapse for awhile.

"This isn't over," You muttered angrily.

He snickered, "I'll always win," He said confidently.

"Just you wait," You said secretly.

Inosuke started moving down the mountainside and into the trees.

You heard Ceoko shuffle in the bag and then you got reminded of the snacks. You sat up instantly and climbed over Inosukes shoulder, "What are you doing?!?" Inosuke said.

"Snacks!"

"You just ate-" Ceoko added.

"And?"

He just sighed in response. You got out your snacks anyways, you didn't go inside the pocket Ceoko was in.

Ceoko shuffled again, your ears twitched. Inosuke didn't seem to notice anything and kept walking, you shivered and looked around.

There was a scent..... and this time it didn't smell like bunny...

It couldn't be a demon though- right? It was still daytime....

You stared into the forest, you took the mask off so you could see better. There was nothing unusual... The trees swayed in the light breeze, along with their shadows.

Something still felt off.....

Ceoko shuffled again, it was obvious he smelled something as well.

You got back in your spot, Inosuke looked down at you then looked around.

"What is it?"

"There was a smell.... let's be more careful for awhile...."

He nodded, "If they show their face I'll be sure to smash it in the ground!" He said it loudly, hoping they would hear.

You smiled, while Ceoko muttered something along the lines of, "Could you be any louder?"

He looked more alert as he kept walking, he made his footsteps really loud and basically was stomping. If you were that... whatever
it was you would feel threatened-

You lifted up the mask again to eat your pretzels, you gave one to Inosuke then shoved one in Ceokos bag.

"Do you expect me to eat this?" He said grumpily.

"Be thankful," You snickered.

"Yeah, yeah, I'm still not eating this," He said.

Inosuke was munching on his pretzel happily.

"You're missing out," You crunched on one and continued to shove his face in the bag.

A few hours passed, Ceoko was fast asleep and Inosuke was carrying on strong.

You looked around again, the smell was still there but nothing was actually there...

You looked at Inosuke, who looked back at you, which made you look away. He only smirked in response, you realized this was the perfect time to escape. Not that you wanted to, just to show your worth in a way.

You crawled over Inosukes shoulder again,
"What are you doing?" He asked again, just like before.

"More snacks," You lied.

He brushed it off since you did this last time. You had to hold back your snicker, you didn't want to mess this up already.

The plan was simple really, you would climb over his shoulder, act like you're going to get something, then swing your legs over you and flip onto the ground! Easy peasy!

If he doesn't grab you before you flip.... 

You prepared yourself, swung your legs full force-

You did it suddenly when you weren't even sure if you were ready.

Apparently Inosuke has super fast reflexes and grabbed you before you were able to get on the ground.

"Nice try," he snickered and pulled you back into his arms.

"Hmph..." You weren't about to give up just like that, you could dive forward instead! Won't be the cleanest landing.... but that doesn't matter!

You threw yourself forward-

You could see the ground, you were almost there.

Just a little more-

He caught you yet again.....

And pulled you right up to where you were.

Ok, ok, that doesn't mean anything! He was just alert because you did it twice, if you wait awhile then it would be perfect...

"Remember when I said I'll always win?" He snickered.

"I'm not done yet!" You were determined now.

"We'll see!"

You shuffled yourself into a comfortable position, and planned your next move.

While brainstorming you may have gotten bored... and fell asleep.

But only for like.... an hour! Or two....

maybe three.....

That was okay though! Still had plenty of time!

You looked at Inosuke and studied him, then looked around again. The area was much different now, there was still a line of trees but not many.  The area was mostly flat now.

It was amazing! You had only remembered that forest, you had never seen an area like this! Well not that you can remember at least.

The sun wasn't setting yet, you decided to consult Ceoko about what you should do.
You crawled over Inosukes shoulder yet again, "Y/N-" He started.

"I'm not doing anything this time!" You defended yourself.

He was still pretty skeptical, but let you do it anyways.

You shook the bag and in your lowest whisper said, "Ceokoooo,"

The bag shuffling there was no sound from Ceoko.

You tried it again, and again, till he finally got tired of it, "What?!" He hissed back.

You shushed him, "How should I escape?" You whispered again.

"Easy.... you don't, now go away," He ended the conversation there.

You stole a snack from the bag before leaving, "I didn't need your help anyways," You muttered.

You needed some food to help you think. You gave some to Inosuke as well and even gave Ceoko some cat food, by then the sun was setting.

The smell had gotten stronger.
