Chapter 6: The Battle

Hailey's POV:
The battle was getting close and everyone has trained super hard. We were all moving out and camping to a campground that was close to where the battle will be. We would go to the field to face the Volturi the next day.

I was so nervous. Renesmee helped calm me down sometimes, but there was still fear lacing through my mind. What if we die? What if someone gets hurt? Questions lingered in my mind. What if they didn't believe us and decided to kill us? I was worried for my own safety, but also those of my family and all the witnesses that had came to our help. They didn't deserve any bad thing coming to them. It was nice of them to come into our fight.

We were all packing up now to head to the campsite. All the witnesses came and helped set up the campsite. Dad helped set up the tent that Renesmee and I would be sleeping in. The wolves decided they would come tonight too so they could be prepared for the fight.

Jake decided to come with us today and helped dad set up the stuff. Renesmee and I played with each other and talked about other things that would take our mind off it. I could tell she was scared and I wanted to help her. She took on the role of the big sister and I knew she didn't want to look afraid in front of me.

Night time has came and it was almost time for Renesmee and I to go to bed. The closer it got, the more my fear grew. Tomorrow would be the day we'd be confronting the Volturi. There was still no sign of Alice and Jasper. Did they really just leave us? All I could hope is that they're safe.

Everyone was gathered around a campfire and telling old stories about different wars they've been to. Jake was with them and I was sitting on his lap listening to the stories while Renesmee sat next to us. A little bit of time passed and I grew sleepy. I let out a long yawn and Jake looked down and smiled at me. I think Renesmee was getting sleepy too. Mom came up and said that it was time for bed. I was about half asleep so mom asked Jake to carry me to the tent. He tucked me in and gave me a kiss on the forehead and said goodnight. Renesmee and mom came in when he left and then she tucked Renesmee in too. She told us bedtime stories and after she was done, I spoke up, "Mom, do you think we're going to die tomorrow?" She looked down in shock at first then shook her head," No honey, of course not. Don't worry, we're just going to have to talk with the Volturi and hopefully we can go home soon." I nodded my head and she kissed me and Renesmee before leaving. She turned around and said goodnight and to get some sleep. After that she left. Soon after dad came to talk to us and to say goodnight. He told us not to worry about the events tomorrow and that we needed to have faith.

Bella's POV:
The girls were sleeping while the others were trying to get extra practice in for tomorrow. Edward and I were talking and had made special plans if we didn't make it out alive. We told the girls that if anything were to happen, they would need to go with Jake. We rounded up some money and passports for them. I knew that Jacob would keep Hailey and her sister safe. They weren't so happy at the thought of being separated from us, but I told them that it was for their safety. Jasper and Alice has set it up to protect them in case things went wrong.

Soon morning came up, and then the snow began to fall. Edward and I quickly got the girls up and ready. Esme made them some food, while the others were packing up and getting things ready to head to the field. The girls were very nervous, but I hugged them and tried my best to make them feel safe. I wasn't going to let anything happen to my daughters. Edward came up and we all had a bit of a moment, while they shed some tears. If we didn't make it out alive, I needed them to be safe and to live a happy life. One with no drama or danger where they have to worry if the Volturi was coming after them. Soon we all calmed down and walked with everyone until we got to the field. The snow began to stick to the ground, and everyone was getting ready in stance. The wolves stayed hidden in the trees in case the Volturi wasn't going to fight. We didn't want them to start anything that wasn't necessary. The wolves would come out if they needed to and it came to a fight. It would be any minute now until the Volturi arrived. Everyone had their moments in case it was the last time. I was so grateful for all of them putting their lives at risk for my own family. Carlisle and Esme kisses and hugged each other, while Emmet and Rosalie did the same along with some of the other covens. Jake stood very close to Hailey in his wolf form in a protective stance while Edward stood on her other side with Renesmee in the middle of him and I. The Volturi would be here soon.
