The Next day at school

*Zoe's POV*

Fern hadn't text me why she hadn't come into school yesterday, that's wasn't like her, she was always the one that came too school early everyday and never failed to do a homework assignment.

Odd.

Although today she was back in, looking like nothing had gone wrong and everything was perfectly fine. But I didn't hesitate to bombard her with questions,

"Why weren't you in yesterday?"

She waved the question off and replyed with a simple

"Just because!"

There was definitely something going on....

*timeskip - Break*

Me and Fern walked to the canteen to meet Emma, Chloe* and (unsurprisingly) Tyler.

He strutted over and playfully hit Ferns shoulder, winking as he did so.

"Girl, where were you yesterday?? You missed Zoe's flirting!" I felt myself reddening, Fern stared at me wide-eyed.

"Zoe did you make a move?" She exclaimed before I hushed her and nodded wearily. Oh god.

(See I had liked this boy in our year for a while now called Alfie, he was super cute and we liked the same things like youtubers and the TV shows 'Friends' but he was already going out with Tanya 'omfg don't touch my hair' Burr. She is this perfect brunette with glowing skin and she is a proper cheerleader with those protencious tassled skirts and 'slipper shoes')

I blushed as I saw him laughing with his friends at the boys table and quickly sat down, covering my face with my coat. I felt a hand on my shoulder.

"You know I ship it" it was Chloe "zalfie I mean... I think its cute"

She was actually the sweetest person I knew.

Unlike Emma, she was outgoing and confident, not to mention she flirts with just about everything that moved. She was sat across the table and she whisper-shouted over too me, "oh my god Zo he is totally checking you out!!" I gasped and tryed to look sexy.... Yeah it didn't work, as I stood up my coat knocked my lunch onto the floor spraying the contents everywhere

A really bad day for a salad I guess.

I squatted down and began picking up peices of lettuce before I felt a presence above me. Oh god.

It was Alfie,

"Are you OK?" He asked beginning to help me pick up my food.

"Oh n-no its OK I- I got this" I stuttered, blushing so much I thought I would explode.

Yet he continued to help.

Seriously, croutons everywhere.

After my lunch was back into my box I looked up at Alfie who was smiling back at me. And I swear, I swear that just for a tiny second, we had a moment. Before Tanya reared her pretty little head and bounced over to alfie clearly seeing that we were interacting.

She looked at me and saw what I thought so she kissed him passionately and walked off back to her friends. Leaving Alfie with a imprint of her lip gloss and in a complete drugged state. He mumbled something and dawdled off back to his table.

God I hate loving someone who doesn't love you back.
