*Dan POV*

I don't know why Phil left, we're best friends, inseparable.

So he would tell me if there was something wrong right?

Oh I don't know.

Its like we've been slowly drifting away recently and it kills me to think that he wouldn't tell me if something was wrong.

After lunch I had a free period so I walked home, hoping to find Phil just in his room or something.

"Phil?" I called, but no reply.

"Phil, are you here?"

Nothing.

I peer into each room but there is no sign of him.

That is until I hear little snuffles from his en suite next to his bedroom.

"Phil, is that you?"

I say as I press my ear up against the door

There is no reply but the snuffles continue, followed with the occasional shaky inhale-exhale.

What had happened??

I tried to open the door but it had been locked tight.

"Please Phil answer, you're scaring me" I say, my voice croaking mid-sentence.

The sniffs stop, as if they are holding they're breath, then I hear him say in the smallest, weakest voice.

"No-one will ever understand how much it hurts, to love somebody that barely even knows you exist."

I feel him rest back against the door and exhale.

He pauses before adding,

"I'm just so done with this crappy world"

I lean back against the door and sink down. I don't know what to say.

So I say what I think, the truth.

"Listen, Phil. Nobody knows you better than me, and I know that anyone that doesn't know you exist is seriously missing out. And I know sometimes its hard. But please. Don't hurt yourself, because I couldn't stand even living if I knew you weren't happy. So please please open this door."

Silence.

I wait for two minutes crowched outside the bathroom. Hearing rustling from within.

Finally he comes out, looking terrible.

He had tried to clean up his arms by wrapping bandages around the yet the blood had already begun to seep through.

And his pale cheeks were tear stained and blotchy matching his scarlet shaded eyes, the veins flashing back at me.

He runs towards me and I bring him into a big bear hug.

Nobody hurts my best friend.

I look down at him and ask, "How about some Buffy to cheer you up?"

He nods fiercely and we walk to the sofa seats in the living room.
