she's a rebel, a junkie, a pogue even...but she lives the kook life, being the foster child of one of the richest families in the outer banks.
But which side of her will JJ Maybank fall in love with?

"Nova, if you could just help us getting the last suitcase out of the car, then you can go off and do your own thing," Mrs Thornton told me.
"Sure thing," I mumbled, dragging my feet back to the pristine, newly polished Range Rover.
I admired the beautiful view of the ocean as I unloaded the car; I couldn't wait to go for long beach walks on my own, away from the Thorntons.
"Welcome to Figure Eight," Topper smirked from the front steps to the house.
"I thought this was the Outer Banks," I said.
"Yeah, well this side is called the figure eight, where those of us with actual importance stay...so I say you're better off making some pogue friends in the Cut," he laughed.
"Better than staying here with you," I muttered.
I took the last suitcase into the house and left it by the large stair case.
Time to explore.
After ages of walking past golf courses and mansions I finally reached what Topper referred to as 'The Cut'. There was such a clear discrepancy between the lifestyle here than back at Figure Eight it was laughable.
Walking had made me hungry and it was around 1 pm so I searched for a place to eat. Eventually I came across a restaurant overlooking the water called 'The Wreck'. Looked good enough to me.
I walked into the noisy restaurant, clearly at peak time and luckily found an empty seat in the far right corner.
"Hi, what can I get you today?" A waitress came up to me and asked. She was tall, tanned and brunette, definitely athletic too.
"Can I get your chicken burger with a side of fries please," I responded.
"Sure thing," she smiled. "You're new around here aren't you? I've never seen you before."
"Uhh yeah," I raised my eyebrows, I've never been that good at friendly small talk, "my family has a summer house here."
I cringed as I said the word family. Never have I considered the Thorntons my family, but it was better than having to explain my complicated situation to anyone and everyone that asked. Plus acting like I loved them became a skill of mine after countless prestigious events.
"Awesome, well, welcome to the Outer Banks!" She smiled, taking my menu and leaving. I watched her walk back to a trio of boys staring at me from the bar...weird.
JJ's P.O.V.
I watched Kiara take the mysterious new girl's order, making small talk with the girl, who didn't look too interested.
"I wonder who that is," Pope said, staring at the girl just as intently as John B and I were.
"Maybe Kie found out," John B said as Kie walked back over to us, placing the order in the kitchen first.
