👀anyways, so this chapter might get on y'all nerves, lol. after this will be a time skip. i gotta move my plot along man. also, sorry, but i needed a bad guy.hayato and caleb both watched as reina paced up and down the hallway, phone long forgotten on the edge of the couch in their dorm. she was livid, absolutely livid. one side of her thoughts were trying to convince her that it wasn't ryujin at all, that......it had to he someone else, it just had to. the other side.......oh the other side was currently winning the battle; telling her that ryujin kept it all to herself and meant what she said as she typed. it all made sense. that's why she was so on edge after the staff meeting, that's why she snapped so much, that's why she started to show her true colors.
(they're from the group destiny. a co-ed group i made in my book, idols)
because she liked jeongin, and she hated them, it all made sense. and the side won. it won by a landslide and placed itself in front of the speaker, proclaiming loud in her mind. ryujin is a snake. she has been fake the entire time and this is her breaking point.
suddenly, she stopped. her fingers forcefully threaded away from each other and her body came into a crashing halt. she was going to deal with ryujin later, but for now, she had to worry about eunseo. she was certain that eunseo read all of the messages, and with the sudden appearance of the crazy ex, and the sudden news that jeongin could go public, along with the many set interviews for the month of april, she might be in a lot of stress.
she slowly walked forward, into the living room and to the couch, settling in front of it, sitting criss crossed, before breathing in deeply, and letting it all out, and she slumped. both hayato and caleb looked at each other, before they both gathered up the courage to place their hands on her shoulder, in indication that they're there to listen.
they've been together for the past four years now, and they had drawn closer than ever before, like a tightly wovenㅡ whatever can be tightly woven. she would always be closer to hayato and kendrick, but over time, caleb had opened up to her as well. even though she was closer to the boys, than she was with the girls, she wouldn't trade any of them for the world. okay, but that's not the point, the point is, they want to know what's wrong.
"rei? something's bothering you. is it the girls?"
hayato asked, and once he felt her stiffen a bit, he knew that he was correct.
"ryujin just admitted to liking jeongin."
hayato and caleb looked at each other for a bit, before mentally sighing, trying to choose who would tell her the story. hayato knew more about it than caleb, since he was there a bit longer, but he didn't want to tell the story, he wanted her to hear it from the party themselves.
"and she said that eunseo was not right in the head to be with herself. firstly, i want to know what she meant by that, but she likes jeongin? when did that happen? and why would she act like she was friends with eungie and i if she didn't like us at all?"
hayato sighed, knowing he had to tell her a bit of the story after all. he just hopes she takes it the right way.
"rei, sweetheart. before you came to the company, a lot of trainees used to have dance classes with soojin. what we explained on the first day of practice was true. she didn't care about age, just learn the dance and move on with life. ryujin was a pretty good dancer at the time, and jeongin kept up when he had to. they were partnered together a lot, and they started to like each other. all of the trainees knew about it, and they had liked each other for so long, that even when they planned debuts and everything, they still remained close. a few months before eunseo started coming around the company, something happened, and it made jeongin tell ryujin he didn't see her in that light anymore. so if ryujin says she likes him, then it's not a surprise. remember, you got close with her after eunseo started coming around and ryujin asked to be friends with the both of you."
"what was the something?"
reina asked, after a few minutes of silence as she soaked it all in. frankly, they didn't know themselves, but there was a rumor going around about it at the time that it had to do with someone he fell for online. another one that overpowered it was that someone else in the group said something to him that made him dislike her.
"they said that a few days before he told her how he felt, they saw once of her bandmates come to him and say something that had a disgusting expression stuck on his face afterwards. we justㅡ"
"who was it?"
"people are saying that it's chaeryeong."
reina shoved her phone in her pocket, slipping her slides on, before exiting the dorm, ignoring the calls of protest from her members. she had no idea what she was going to do or say, but it had nothing to do with whatever the hell that conversation was with hayato and caleb. she was going to see eunseo. she turned to the elevator, pressing the button and taking out her phone to call her best friend.
as she waited for the elevator, eunseo answered the phone, talking to her about where she was and what she needed to say, jeongin saying a few words as well in greeting to her. she was smiling, genuinely as she listened to them argue about some chips, before the elevator finally opened up, and she saw the person she wanted to avoid, in the elevator, who rolled her eyes at the younger, before stepping to the side. reina didn't even hesitate to think of something else, staying on the phone with eunseo as she stood beside the elder, pressing the button to ground floor.
"where are you going?"
the elder asked, and was intentionally ignored by the younger, who instead listened to eunseo ramble about her day with ateez. reina smiled when eunseo said that seonghwa and yunho said that they wanted to meet her, and she continued to listen.
it wasn't until the elevator flashed the number one, that the elder placed her hand on reina's shoulder, turning her forcefully in her direction.
"are you gonna ignore me? i asked you where you're going?"
"are you my abuela, my manager or my bandmate to get such information from me you pathetic attention seeking bitch?"
eunseo, who was babbling about how jeongin was telling her about the interview, stopped once she heard another voice, and freezing altogether when she heard reina's retort. she, then asked, "yah, reina who is that chick?"
"chaeryeong's asking me where i'm going like it's any of her business."
"why is she with you?"
"met her on the elevator."
"ew. should've taken the stairs. we don't stand in the presence of potential man stealers."
"like she stands a chance."
then a fit of laughter ran throughout the elevator, the doors finally opening on ground floor, before the entire place got silent, a loud ringing sound, all too familiar to jeongin, sounding off on the other side of the phone.
"you and that little homewrecker you call a best friend better watch your mouths and your backs. you may have ryujin falling for your stupid antics, and jeongin under some kind of stupid spell, but i see right through yoㅡ"
a louder ring rang out, causing even the security outside the entrance to look around and see where it came from, the elder holding her cheek as it was starting to swell pretty quickly.
"slap me again, and you won't have fingers or a nose you prick. i don't know what has gotten into you chaeryeong, but jealousy is an ugly trait and now you look worse than vomit. come to me correctly next time, or so help me i'll make your life a living hell."
and with that, reina walked towards her car, starting it up and heading to the building to see her best friend who was asking a billion questions, being held back by jeongin who didn't want her to do to chaeryeong what she did to ava.
