Chapter 2
"You know, I could have gotten that myself." I say as I turn around to see my childhood friend, Roman, standing there holding my bag with a giant smile on his face.
"Fine then. You carry it." He says as he playfully shoves the case at me. I take it, run inside, shut and lock the screen door and for good measures, I stuck my tongue out at him. I than carried the case up 3 flights of stairs to my room. I love the third floor, because the whole floor is one room and I've had it since I could remember. I went over to the window seat to look down on grandma's driveway and saw her and Ree grabbing some stuff from the car. "Dang it!" I whisper.
"What? Thought you could leave me out there in the freezing cold without even a hug? No way! Think again."
"Roman, it is 95 degrees. What are you talking about 'freezing cold'?" I said as I turned to see him standing in the door way.
"Okay! Maybe it wasn't that cold, but you have no excuse for not givi-" I couldn't resist any longer. I ran and jumped on him. Wrapping my arms around his neck and my legs around his waist. His arms encircled my waist as he hugged me back. I buried my face into his neck. I missed these moments between us. I miss his snarky yet sweet ways. And most importantly: I missed him. My arms and legs tighten around him, not wanting this to end. His arms tighten around my waist protectively.
We stayed like that for a few minutes before I decided we better get down there and start helping grandma and Ree. I reluctantly undo my feet around his waist and he realizes what I was doing and let me go as I unwrapped my arms from around his neck.
"Come on. Let’s go get the rest of the stuff and me and you can have a sleepover movie night." I say as I take his hand and lead him down the stairs.
"Yay! Haven't been to one in a long time." He then began running down the stairs, tugging me with him, which made me laugh. When we reached the car, all of Ree's belongings were gone and all that was left was my stuff, which wasn't much. There were 3 boxes: a small one, a medium one, and a large one. The large one was going to take both of us, so we decided to take that one first.
"Sheesh Lexi, What do you have in this thing? 50 dead bodies?" He said looking at me over the top of the box.
"pst...I don't have 50 dead bodies." I told him, than whispered loudly to myself, "I have 100 dead bodies." I felt the box almost slip on his side. "Why Roman, don't tell me your afraid of dead things?"
"No. Of course not." He said as we reached the third floor and walked a little ways into the room so the box wouldn't block the door.
I raised an eyebrow at him as I walked over to the box and began opening it. When Roman noticed, he took a step toward the window seat. "You know Roman; I'm actually hurt you would think I would randomly kill people." I thought about that, "well in real life." I said as I started to pull out my PlayStation3, which was lying on top of everything else. When Roman realize what was actually in the box he laughed nervously and rub the back of his neck. I walked over to him grabbed his hand and started running down the stairs. We reached the car and he grabbed the medium box as I grabbed the small box. Then I shut the trunk and we headed back up stairs.
When we got to my room, we piled the boxes in a corner. Then I picked up the PS3 and hooked it up to the TV, turned both on, and started blasting my playlist that has only BVB and FIR music on it, and blasted the music on load. The first song was Good Girls, Bad Guys by FIR. I then opened the small one and started to unpack it. All that was in it was pictures of me, my sister, some friends, and our parents. But these were taken during the happy years, before the divorce and the incident, which is why my sister and I were moving in with my grandma. We couldn't stand to see our parents fighting over custody of us-it got to where my parents were considering splitting us apart, mom taking one, dad taking the other-so me and Ree decided to make it fair, we would live with grandma and during a third of each vacation we would visit dad, during another third of the vacation we would spend with mom, leaving the rest of vacation to ourselves.
I then looked at Roman-who is sitting on my bed, looking through my pictures-and smile. Grandma surely would have told him the situation, so he should know, but he hasn’t said anything. Probably so he didn't have to see me sad. Thinking that, my smile grew. To everybody else, Roman was the bad boy goth that could beat up anyone he wanted whenever he wanted. The reason they thought this was because that was how he acted around and towards them, even my own sister. When with other people, he was snarky, a smarty-pants, mean, and a major prankster. But when it was just us, he was sweet, smart, nice, loving, and caring. Oh trust me, he was still snarky, a smarty-pants, and a prankster, but he lowers it down to a minimal. I also have to admit that he is super sexy. He was wearing a Black Veil Brides T-shirt, tight black skinny jeans with a skull belt, and black vans. His hair was naturally black and flat, but he had a face that made it look good. He had a thin but noticeable, because of his pale complexion, line of eyeliner on, highlight his light green eyes. He had high cheekbones and the fullest, reddest lips-that had a piercing kind of like mine-which no guy should have. He was so hot that it was okay. Yes, I am saying my best friend since before I could remember is freaking hot and sexy, and I can say this because we have been best friends since before I could remember.
"Liking what you see?" Roman said, pulling me out of my thoughts. Also making me realize that I've been staring at him with a stupid grin on my face for who knows how long.
"Pst, you wish." I say. No, I am not embarrassed, because I zone out a lot, so I'm used to it. Then I take the medium box, which is filled with mainly movies and video games and a few books, and start unpacking it. Roman reaches in the box and grabs about 5 music books.
"What instrument do you play?" Roman asked as he put them with the other books.
"I thought you knew me!" I reply, taking in a dramatic gasp.
"I do know you, but those didn't look like singing books."
Crap. "It doesn't matter."
"Yes, it does. I am your best friend you haven’t seen in forever and you’re keeping things from me." He pouted with a hurt look on his face. I stood there staring at his face while chanting in my head, 'I will not give in, I will not give in'. I repeated that in my head for about 5 more times while staring at his face, before I gave in.
I looked away and pushed the half empty box on the floor deciding to get back to it later. "Ugh! Fine!" Roman's face light up. "I played piano."
