Chapter 4

***3 days later***

"Noo," I cried as Roman picked up the last cupcake and took a bite. I football tackeled him to the gound trying to eat the rest of the cupcake, but I only succeeded in making him shove it in my face.

"Meanie," I fake pouted and even made my bottom lip tremble for effect. I started to get up only to be pulled back down again. Roman took my face in his hands and licked the frosting off my face. "Ewwww!! That's disgusting!" I yelled as I ran to the bathroom to wash my face.

"Whatever! You know you liked it. You can't lie." He laughs.

"Keep it down! Some people are trying to sleep," Ree yelled down at us.

"Dude! It is 12 in the afternoon!" I said, "Get up we have to go school shopping!"

"Ugh!" Was her reply.

"So are you excited to start school at Hillcrest High?" Roman asked me.

"Do Alyssa and Miranda still go there?"

"Yeah," He said very cautiously and slowly.

"Then heck yea!" I say, going to high-five him, but I make my hand stop in mid air. "Wait! What about Mark and Stacey?"

"Well Mark moved to Sacramento, and Stacey still lives here..along with..," He says twiddling his fingers.

"Along with who?" I ask impatiently.

"Remember Stacey's cousin Adessa?" I nod. "Well, her parents died, so she moved in with Stacey and is now going to Hillcrest."

"Crap!"

"Hey. It's not as bad as it seems and think on the bright side: you have me, Miranda, Alyssa, and Ree."

"Which only makes things worse." I sighed, rubbing a hand down my face.

"Why?"

"Remember when I held that sleepover and grandma made me invite Stacey, Mark, and Adessa?" His turn to nod. "And when we woke up the room had a whole bunch of silly string and whipping cream all around it?" He nods again. "And half of Ree's hair was cut off?" He nods. "All that was Adessa's idea. She personally designed half of my sister's head." I thought to myself for a second, remembering the dance recital we performed when we were 5. Stacey wanted to be the lead dancer, but Ms. Tish picked Ree. When Adessa heard about it, she put a frog in my sister's tutu and she hooked up a bucket of water that fell when my sister stepped on the trigger and a bag of flower to go over the water. "I don't know why, but it seemed as though Adessa went out of her way to sabotage Ree's life. I think I'll make it my mission to find out." I said, nodding to myself to confirm the idea.

"I'll help you." Roman said.

"And how are you supposed to do that?"

"I'm in with the 'cool' kids!" He replied in a 'duh' tone of voice.

"Okay. Fine. You can help. The name of this operation is 'Find Out Why Adessa Hates Ree' or 'FOWAHR' for short. Before we begin this mission, we have to start, and finish, Mission: School Shopping."

"Agreed. Ree get down here now!!!" Roman yelled up to Ree.

"I'm coming. I'm coming." She replied with her her coat in hand.

"Okay. Lets go."

"I'm driving." I said.

"No!" Roman and Ree said simultaneously.

"Ugh

. Fine, But I call shotgun." I said as I got in the front seat.

"Okay." Roman said sliding into the driver's side, leaving my sister to sit in the back.

Commence Operation: School Shopping.

I'm really sorry for the short chapters. I promise they will get longer and better. And I try to update regularly, but I live in a house full of boys, so I can't get on as much as I hope.
