DEAF HINATA AU - The Sound of Silence

Kageyama POV
I stumbled into the hospital and looked around desperately for Hinata.

Instead however, I saw his mum sitting in the waiting room.

I ran into there, standing in front of her and panting.

"Shouyo" I say between gasps "Where's... Shouyo"

She pulls me down to sit in the chair next to her.

"He's going to hear again" she says.
I look at her wide eyed.
"W...what do you mean?"

She looks at me. Her eyes are red, and it's like she's staring into my soul.

I start to sweat a little.

She grabs my hand and squeezed it tightly.
"He's going to hear me again"

She lets go of my hand and looks straight ahead not saying anything again.

I grit my teeth and go to the front desk.

"Hinata Shouyo" I say "Where is he?"

"Are you immediate family?"

"No"

"Does someone from his immediate family know you're here"

"Yes"

She types something on the computer.

"Currently in surgery. Should be out in two to four hours"

"Surgery?!" I repeat "For what?!"

"Cochlear implants." she says "Please take a seat if you don't need anything else we have people waiting"

I sit far away from his mum and took my phone out, doing on a wild research session on cochlear implants.

Apparently it's a small electronic device that can help you hear.

Considering that Hinata heard my voice at the peer, I have no idea what it might do to him.

I looked at risks and side effects.

Bleeding.
Infection.
Malfunction.
Nerve weakness.
Ringing.
Dizziness.
Headaches.
Swelling.

From what I read these symptoms are unlikely to occur, but still very possible.

Why would she do something like this?

He was fine not hearing.
I was fine with him not hearing.

This surgery is risky and expensive.

She could have at least told him.
Told us.

I thought back to what Hinata told me so long ago.

I gritted my teeth.

A part of me was happy.
Hinata has a chance to hear!
To hear me!

I shook thinking about it.

They said the surgery would take two to four hours, huh?

It was already close to 3.

I got up and went to pick Natsu up. Sure it was far away but it would get my mind off of things.

She was surprised when she saw I was the one to pick her up.

"Kageyama-chan" she said "Where's Shou-chan?"

I hold her hand and look at her gently.

"We got to go see him now."

She got restless and tired during the long walk to the hospital, eventually I had to pick her up and carry her there.
