Tsukauchi had been informed of a new informant in the villain underground little over a month ago. Eraserhead had come into his office letting him know the rumours of an apparent Rabbit handing out information of hero's quirks all of which are then heavily injured and beaten with persist efficiently. Eraserhead is a logical person he would not have brought this to the detectives attention if his source was not reliable, the lack of information had made the case hat as soon as it was made, the informant never met in person and they couldn't pin down their stand-in. However the case had not been as urgent as it was right now after the death of a hero. There shouldn't be any strings tied to the two but he cant think of a better theory to go on.
Rabbit has been quickly rising as a villain informant, the cases they've drawn sure connections too show normally weak or messy villains becoming more organised, systematically taking out heroes and exploiting weaknesses not even the hero's were aware they had. And it scares Tsukauchi a bit because this sudden efficiently matches the recent hero killing case.
It's exploits a hero's weakness, in a position they cant protect their self easily and countering their quirk. Cutting their throat so it can be used at all. The vigilante now classed villain they've to be connected to the case hasn't killed before, caused injury and used unnecessary violence, yes but murder isn't on the list.
It's the first apparent Rabbit related case thats ended in a fatality and its scared Tsukauchi, has the informant been holding back this whole time? Is he teaming up with the new hero killer? And if he can pull this much off without having to be there in person...
He shivers a the thought.
He pulls the case out again to go over the information they've gathered. It's not enough. They don't know his quirk but they've speculated its most possibly an intelligence enhance meant or analysis type of some kind. Information is often sent from a burner phone and villains are told to delete texts or burn written information they're given. At least one physical stand in for the informant and it's unlikely to be the real Rabbit. They had held off capture, hoping that they'd use the stand in to follow to Rabbit. That's a dead end, the villain hasn't been seen since the death of Dragon.
And then there's the kid. Dragons son. A picture of a bright eyed boy with a mop of messy hair, 'Quirkless' written right under his name. It looks as promising as it sounds. He didn't stand a chance but they've yet to find a body so when can't think like that. There's a chance these villains wouldn't stoop so low. He hopes...
He bumps the case up to the top of his case file, staying up till dawn in his office looking for something anything they missed.
He doesn't find anything and Izuku Midoriya is as good as dead.
