Y/n was looking out the window, when she heard her phone vibrating in her pocket.

She took it. On her screen, a text.

-Hey! Already there?

She smiled.

-Not yet, I'm on the plane, tho.

Y/n was going to California for the holidays to stay with her parents for a couple days, and was really happy to see them and tell them everything.

She looked at her hand, smiling as she saw her beautiful engagement ring.

She really couldn't wait.

-I'm so sorry I couldn't come, babe... I really wanted to be with you to tell them the big news...

-I know, Al, don't worry...

She looked out the window, waiting for his answer.

A few moments later, a text arrived.

-I love you, y/n

-I love you too, honey

-Have a good flight!
And call me when you're there :)

-Will do ;)

She smiled, resting her back on the seat.

She took her headphones, plugged them in, and started the music from her spotify playlist.

Hostage, by Billie Eilish, filled her ears, as she closed her eyes, ready for the rest of her flight.

I wanna be alone
Alone with you
Does that make sense?
I wanna steal your soul
And hide you in my treasure chest

Y/n sighed, pulling her headphones down, as the flight attendant announced the beginning of their landing.

She looked out the window, smiling.

After a couple minutes, the plane stopped, and the doors opened, as the people started taking their bags and leaving.

She got up from her seat, and after the line of people in front of her had gone, she took her stuff and followed them out.

Outside, at the arrivals' waiting area, she found her parents, waving happily at her.

"Honey!" Said her mother, hugging her "We missed you so much..."

"I missed you too, mum" she smiled.

Y/n turned around to face her dad.

"Hi dad" she hugged him.

"Hey" he said, slightly smiling, as he patted her shoulder.

He was always like that. He wasn't really a people person, not even with her daughter.

"Let's go to the car... you have so much to tell us!" said her mother

"Yes, I do" thought y/n, smiling.

The trip from the airport was really nice, probably because her parents had let her choose the music.

She had plugged her phone to the car radio (it was a old car, there was no bluetooth or touchscreen in it. Just an old car radio with a cd ) and played her spotify playlist.

She sang along to every song, looking out the window.

She had put on her gloves earlier, so that they couldn't see the ring.

She didn't want to ruin the surprise.

Another song faded out, and Migraine, by Twenty One Pilots, started.

I-I-I I've got a migraine
And my pain will range from up, down, and sideways
Thank God it's Friday cause Fridays will always be better than Sundays
'Cause Sundays are my suicide days

After a few hours, they arrived.

Y/n smiled, as his father drove in the alleyway, parking in front of the garage

She got out of the car, and entered the house.

She had missed it.
A lot.

She ran up the stairs, entering her childhood room.

Everything was excactly how she'd left it more than ten years ago.

The posters of her favourite bands where still hung on the dark blue walls, the black piano was still covered in music sheets, the bed had the same blue covers...

A lot of memories came back to her, as she smiled.

She lied down on the bed, sighing.

She looked up. On the ceiling, sticker stars, the kind that light up in the dark.

She smiled.

She had forgot about them.

"Dinner is ready!" shouted her mother from downstairs.

Y/n sighed, slowly getting up from the bed.

She looked out of the window. It was dark outside.

"I must've fallen asleep" she thought.

She walked down the stairs, and entered the dining room.

"You're up!" her mum smiled "Long trip, huh?"

"Yeah..." y/n giggled, sitting down.

On the table in front of her, the mac and cheese her mum had prepared while she napped.

"It's still your favourite dish, right?" she asked, worried.

"Yes, mum, it is" she laughed "Don't worry"

Her father arrived, sitting down at the other side of the table.

"Ugh..." he said, leaving his reading glasses beside his plate, that his wife had just filled with pasta.

"Why so grumpy, dad?"

"Nothing, nothing... I was just trying to turn on the tv, but I can't find the fucking remote..."

"Albert! No swearing in this house!" her mother yelled.

"Oh, shut up..."

"I missed this" y/n laughed.

Her parents where always like that.
A grumpy old man bickering with a slightly less grumpy old woman.

After dinner, y/n sat her parents down on the sofa.

"So... I have news to tell you. Big news" she said, excited.

"Ooh, and what is it?" asked her mother.

Y/n took a deep breath.

"Alex and I are engaged!" she said, showing them the ring.

"Oh my God!!! It's beautiful!" said her mother excited.

She jumped up from the sofa, and hugged her daugher.

"It's great news, darling... I'm so happy!"

"Thanks mom" she smiled.

Her mother stepped back.
Now it was her father's turn.

He looked at her, almost crying of happiness.

"My baby girl" he smiled between the tears, hugging her "...I'm proud of you"

Y/n smiled too.

She had never seen her father so happy, and vulnerable... and, most of all, so proud.

"We want to know everything!" said her mother, happily.

A/N :/
Hey! Thanks for reading!
I know in this there really wasn't much Alex, but it came out like this, and I didn't really know how to change it, so... hope you like this fluffy engagement oneshot :)
