Ode to Atlas

Since the love of the Sun and Moon
Birthed the rosy-cheeked Dawn,
Everything has been about
You.

You are the essence of glory,
a king amongst pitiful Gods.
Jupiter should know to throw aside his ego
And bow to you.

You know greatness' true form,
The titanic burden of isolation,
A life sentence bestowed by curséd Kronos.
You reach out your hand and strain the chains we've come to know as time.

You, Atlas, give yourself to all
And can never belong to one.
You've learned that you cannot give someone the world
When it is pressed against your shoulders.

Atlas,
You've been saddled with the title of hero,
And find yourself a single burning star shrouded by darkness.
You alone can know the weight of gravity.
