The next morning
Alex's POV"Morning Hela, d-" I cut Daisy off.
"It's Alex." I said in a stern tone. Daisy looked a little taken back. I was done. I was going back to being no one again. I have no family, friends or purpose. My purpose is destruction. I looked down at my hand to see it was scalded. I had crushed the coffee cup. I dropped the cup and ran over to the sink. Daisy was panicking a little but I waved her off. We were standing near Phil's office. Yelling could be heard. It must have been muffled to Daisy but I could hear it perfectly. Sometimes if I focus enough I can hear their thoughts.
"Wonder what that's about!" Daisy tried to keep the mood light hearted.
"It's about me. I can't stay somewhere five minutes without tearing it apart. I'll be leaving soon, can we go see Fitz and Simmons now?" Daisy slowly nodded as she took in the weird clump of depressing information. We walked down the lab, daisy holding the coffee this time.
"Hey, Fitz. Can you show Alex some of your gadgets? She makes some of her own apparently. Simmons I want the results on those weird fungus we found in the underground thing." Daisy said splitting us off into groups. I gave Fitz a weak smile and he did the same. We sat in quite comfortable silence while he worked and I occasionally helped.
"Screwdriver?" He asked. I handed it to him before turning back to my own passion project. I left to go get it earlier so I could work on her in a proper lab. "You just gave me a hammer, what are distracted by?" He asked looking over. He saw me leaning over a pair of glasses. The panel off so I could reach the tiny microchip that powers the projector. We ended up swapping roles.
"Screwdriver." He handed it to me and I screwed on the panel. I placed on the glasses and smiled. He looked at me confused. "Jane." She booted up, not that he could tell. She ran a retinal recognition then facial for extra security. She gave me access to everything. "Call Fitz' phone." His phone began to ring and he looked at me. It said J.A.N.E. Across the screen. "Jane give guest access to Fitz. Here try her on!" I said handing my baby over. He put the glasses on. I jumped back slightly signalling that the display had shown up. I would have given him friend access but I was currently working on hacking into Avengers Tower and I had already compromised Shields files. Fury is aware of this but Coulson isn't and I would like to keep it that way.
"This is amazing, but who is Jane?"
"That's me! I'm Jane!" Her voice came through the outward facing speakers. Fitz jumped but then started laughing.
"Artificial Intelligence. How old are you?" He asked handing back the glasses.
"Fourteen as of yesterday." I said smiling.
"It was your birthday?!" I heard Simmons behind me. "Why didn't you tell anyone?" She questioned.
"Well while I was-" I stopped myself. They don't have to know where I was for ten years. "I never celebrated my birthday, ever before so why start now?" I shrugged. Simmons looked like she was about to kill someone.
"We are having a small party. Daisy, I know you can't bake so go tell Coulson and May. Fitz," she winked at Fitz who nodded. "Now, lets go bake a cake!" I have never had cake before. We went to the kitchen area and surprisingly there was a cake mix. Simmons shrugged it off and we started baking. We got the place an absolute mess but we were laughing the entire time. "So we use the electric mixer now."
"NOT ALL THE WAY" I yelled as cake batter spluttered all over us. We both started laughing. After about three hours we made an edible cake. While we waited for Fitz, All of us sat down and started chatting. I put my legs up which caused Phil to point at my shoes. I kicked them off and put my feet back up. He rolled his eyes but left me off.
